January 21, 20179 yr Six astonishing things Betsy DeVos said — and refused to say — at her confirmation hearing - The Washington Post :meh: Is this one of the cabinet positions he was trashing? If so he ain't hiding it.
January 21, 20179 yr Great deflection post....lol. You are right in your thinking Hellcats. You got to get this thing going in a different direction. CNN will help you out, dont fret. MSNBC.

January 21, 20179 yr Appointing somebody with no relationship to the NEA is a step in the right direction. In an ideal world, the Dept. of Education would be eliminated entirely. For now, I will settle for a Sec. of Education who supports school choice, vouchers, and charter schools.

If you don't believe the article watch the hearings. How do those things you love work in rural KY?

How do those things you love work in rural KY? Not as well as they would work in my current neighborhood because of the distance between schools. However, sending tax dollars to Washington, where the Department of Education takes a cut, pays a large staff, and then returns part of the leftover money to states, with strings attached, that in turn take a cut and send the leftover money to local school districts, with more strings attached, is not a very efficient system. I think that letting school districts keep more of their taxpayers' money and giving them more freedom to control their own classrooms would be a great improvement. I live among federal bureaucrats and my impression is that they are no more intelligent or honest than my neighbors back in Kentucky were. In fact, federal bureaucrats who live within and near the Capital Beltway seem very out of touch with the people who they are supposed to be serving back in Kentucky.

Come to think of it I bet most of Trump country will get no use out of vouchers and charter schools. #irony What part of classrooms is the federal govt controlling?
January 21, 20179 yr Come to think of it I bet most of Trump country will get no use out of vouchers and charter schools. #irony What part of classrooms is the federal govt controlling? Ask a teacher or a school cafeteria cook, or somebody who works in a school board office. The truth is out there for the taking. I do agree that those who would benefit most from true educational reforms and increased competition live in areas controlled by liberals who are determined to hold pupils captive in their local public school. No choice. No vouchers. No charter schools. That is the vision of the scoundrels who run the worst public school districts in the country.

Lunchroom for starters, I know another school, like Highlands, that is opting out of the Federal Lunch program next year. :whistling:

I talk to several on the daily. :lol2: Federal govt oppression isn't that big of a deal. So Trump voters are just concerned with what will help those kids trapped in liberal areas?

I don't speak for any group. I speak for myself. Trump voters are not a monolithic bloc.
