A big thing with the guys from around the Bell Co. area is to once or twice a year take a trip to another course for a few days and play there and do a little gambling. I just got back from a trip to Eagle Ridge Golf Course at Yatesville Lake State Park. I know its a good time and was just wondering if you other guys from around the state did it. We usually take about 12-16 guys.

I host 2 outings a year down at Woodson Bend in Burnside.20 guys on each trip.The one in April are made up of co-workers and the one coming up the last week in September is made up of mostly old high school buddies and friends.We started doing this back in 1987.It used to be a weekend and has turned into a week long trip in April and the one coming up is now a Tuesday night until Sunday deal.:ylsuper:

It really was in great shape. It is one of those courses that it depends on you whether you would like it or not. You cant hit driver a whole lot, at least I couldnt, as it is kind of target golf. There are a lot of dropoffs and high grass just off the fairways. Several ravine's and such on holes. You definitely need to pay attention to the guide they have for you in the golf cart the first time you play it. I neglected it a few holes and paid for it. There are lots of scoring opportunities, and no hole is the same. Lots of elevation changes, and one hole drops like 200+ feet. It's short, but very tight at the green with a green that at least with the pin positions we had is not easy to get it close. I shot a couple of good scores out there and thought it was in very good shape, but I dont think it is a place I would want to go back and spend another weekend. It is out away from everything, and is not what I generally like in a course. I'm not a big fan of hitting 6iron off the tee of a par 5 and 8 iron off a par 4 which I did a few times. I suppose my gripe is you dont see that on tour, so why would you make a nice course like that. Several guys really liked it, but several didnt. It just depends on what you like.

Played an interesting track called Tobacco Road. It is the most unique course I have ever played.

Also played Tot Hill, National, The Carolina, and The Pit. All five courses were solid.

Leaving for Pinehurst Friday for 5 days on our 24th annual trip. I have played all 5 of your courses several times. They are all excellent. This year we have Whispering Woods, The Legacy, Carolina Trace, Little River Farms and The Bayonet At Puppy Creek. Pinehurst is great place to visit.

A lot of guys from Bell Co. go there once a year or so. At least they have for the last several years. I heard they might plan on changing the trip to another place, but dont know if they ever did.

Go on a great trip with Southeast Christian Church of Louisville every year. 150 guys head to Morristown TN. and play different courses in the area for 4 days. 18 on Sunday, 36 on Monday, 36 on Tuesday, and 18 on Wednesday. Players are placed on teams and play different formats on Monday and Tuesday. Fantastic trip with a devotional led by a minister of Southeast at the end of the day. I look forward to the first week of June every year.

I need to take up golf.. It seems like all business men play golf, I want to become a business man so I must golf.
