I will admit if a coach is a good coach or not. I follow Ohio State Football and always have, can't stand anything Michigan. I'm just not going to be biased when it comes to this. I simply look at what the man has done at his last 3 jobs, he has turned every team he has been HC around into a contender in a very short time. Like him or not, the man gets results.

He lost to them period. A great coach doesn't lose 3 games much less 2 games to teams you think are inferior to his team. Simple as that. You can leave the thread if you like, won't change the fact that your great coach lost 3 games in the regular season with the team he had.

January 1, 20179 yr ND definitely was the definition of overrated. Also no one is claiming LSU or ND's coach (Miles or Kelly) as one of the best in the game. My point is simple. If Jimbo is such a great coach then he should have been in the playoffs after starting the season ranked #4. Not everyone had their team in the top 4 now did they? If Jimbo is one of the greatest coaches in college ball then you'd think having a top 4 team would have been good enough to get into the playoffs. Just my opinion. Great coaches win with great teams. Meyer didn't even have his buckeyes in the top 4 pre season yet he made it. That's all. The notion that a great coach will ALWAYS get his team there when predicted to do so is absurd. Even Saban has failed to get his team there in a year when it was predicted to be in the top 1-2. Urban Meyer has had years where his team was rated #1 and he didn't get into the BCS title game. Or, how about last season when OSU was #1 all those weeks and didn't make the playoffs. We all agree those are fantastic coaches, and yet, there are times where they had the teams rated to make it and didn't. It happens. Your argument is fundamentally flawed and undone by the very coaches you have already noted are above reproach. In any case, my issue was (and is) with your notion that FSU fell on their face. They didn't. You have in no way made the argument they did beyond an incredibly high standard of "didn't make the playoffs yet were predicted to."

I was told that the reason Harbaugh shouldn't be considered is because he has t won anything. Well neither has Dabo Sweeney. So how can people use criteria for one and not everyone else?

So in the last 2 seasons he was 10-3 each season just like Jimbo. Hmmmmm interesting.
