Holmes led 30-26 at the half.

An interesting game that saw the Bulldogs take an early 7 point first quarter lead thanks to a handful of nice mid-range jumpers from the likes of Miller and Hollis and 6 first quarter fouls being called on the Camels putting the Dogs at the line a lot early.

 

Even through the trees Holmes held their own crashing the boards, and early on the Camels were being out hustled not always getting back adequately on defense after they scored.

 

The always calm and dependable sharp shooter Cole Hegyi came to life and is the reason that CC remained close. They played the 2nd quarter pretty even and Holmes was up 6 with the ball and about :45 remaining in the half held for the last shot which got blocked giving Hegyi just enough time to drive it home making the half time score 30-26 Bulldogs.

 

Though the Dogs quickly extended their lead in the 3rd quarter to 10 after that it was all Camels and Hegyi, with them turning up the "D" contesting every Bulldog shot or making it difficult for them to even find one. Soon the Camels were up by 10 but Holmes continued to fight even getting it back to 3 at on point in the 4th, but it kept raining 3's for the Camels allowing them to always keep their distance. Last couple minute desperation attempts weren't connecting for the Dogs allowing the Camels once more to extend their lead and breath easier the last minute of the game

Very impressed with Campbell County, I have saw all but one of Holmes games and this is the best team Holmes has played, this team can flat light it up from three point land, Holmes players pretty hard on defense and they still hit them, this team has size and can shoot and guard, I like there chances in the tenth region. If Holmes can get by Conner at Lloyd and that will be a task in it self, and Campbell gets by a scrappy Newport Public team these two teams could meet again next week, best of luck to both.

No knock on the the Dogs as they played tough the entire game. I'm impressed with the fight in this team. Perhaps desperation is the wrong word, but it came down to a frantic attempt to close the gap while the clock was ticking so they didn't always have the benefit of taking high percentage shots under the circumstances. No offense to them as they held their own against a pretty good team.

Just wanted to give a shout out to the coolest name in NKY basketball: Raavia Commodore from Holmes.
