Every saturday morning in the Cincinnati area there is a show on 1480AM called The Car Doctors. They are very informative but obviously not all topics are relatable.

I have a 2013 Ford Flex. We love it. Unfortunately after our summer vacation this year we now have two door sensors that constantly say two doors are open, our indoor lights stay on to long and come on by themselves at random times. Also the alarm randomly goes off at all times of the day so we have to leave it unlocked.

Ford going to charge full price for diagnosis and then labor. Any suggestions?

A quick google search says this is often a problem. A door latch senor(s) is out.

Either replace the sensor(s) or cut the wire going to them to make the car think the door is closed. Don't know if this helps but good luck.

Take a look at some of these videos. You or someone you know might be able to do this in your driveway/garage.

Thanks for the input and reference.

I also started this thread as a way people could ask and learn about different problems for the many makes and models

I usually google whatever my problem is and there is usually a suffice answer/youtube video that turns into a "do-it-yourself" project.

I've been chasing an issue for 6 months. Finally found the problem in the front differential. It's a metal on metal noise. Mechanic ($600+) "fixed" it. Turns out to be some type of lock tab in the front differential. Got on the highway, less than a mile from the shop and the noise returned. Mechanic stated he put two new ones in and he's not sure why it's making the noise again. Anyone have an idea how to "lock down" that lock tab? 8.25 GM Differential

Another question I have is. On the side of my tire it reads max pressure 44psi cold. I know your supposed to inflate your tire in cold weather. What is the protocol in summer?

You gotta switch out your winter air for summer air...it's lighter.

Tire sensors are now out on the Equinox. So the dash lights up at the start of any trip. $180 to fix it and the ones on the tires seem to always go bad. Any ideas?

I like the joke. I am always curious, as I am well aware air expands the warmer it gets and contracts the colder it gets. I'm asking if I have a low tire on the hottest day of the summer, what psi should I go to?

One of the main reasons I hate our vehicle. To any sensors, and they OFTEN go bad for no reason. Technology is nice but sometimes it's more than a pain in the butt.

I would still think you measure the pressure and put in what it says. If it is 44psi max, then you put that in, whether a hot or a cold day. Now you have to check it as the temps outside change as the psi will increase by about 1psi per 10 degree temp increase or vice versa go down 1 psi per 10 degree drop. Also, tires typically lose 1 psi per month.
