Wish dads understood LONG-SNAPPING is a lot of time the ONLY way a boy will get a chance to play in a Division 1 program. Your kid who is a stud HS receiver under 6'0 who runs a 4.7 will NOT be playing D1 even if he led the state in receiving for 2 years. ...but he CAN maybe make it as as long snapper.

 

(My son--8th grader--will be going out later today to work on speed, quickness, catching, route-running, AND LONG-SNAPPING.)

 

My son was a very good high school tackle at Somerset but he was 6'1" 215lbs. We started working on longsnapping in the 6th grade. He just graduated in May from EKU and started at longsnapper for 4 years. He got to play at Purdue, Louisville, Miami OH, UK, NC State and the Swamp. His punter his name 1st 2 seasons was Jordan Berry of the Steelers. None of that would have happened if he could only have played O-line.

No. High school and college only the ball matters. If it doesn't cross the plane it's not a touchback.
