Thought this might've been an interesting contest to help us get an early gauge at just how close teams in the 9th Region really are with both Conner and CovCath having faced LexCath. With the Cougars being the preseason number 6 it appears to be at least telling enough to surmise that it might be a bit closer than many had initially thought.

Happy for the Cougars. Happy for Matt and the staff.

Not trying to take anything way from Conner...but I believe Lex Cath was missing a key player on the sidelines.

 

Conner jumped out early to a 10 point lead led by Travis Connely. He really set the stage early for Conner with hustle play and 3 point shooting. Conner had nice pressure on the ball all game. 2nd quarter saw Conner maintain the lead, but Lex Cath got a couple of nice possessions at the end to cut into the Conner lead.

 

2nd half was very entertaining...Tanner Craddock hit some big 3's in the 3rd period to keep Conner ahead.

 

4th quarter Lex Cath clawed back and took the lead. Conner remained calm and Spencer Hemmerich hit two huge 3's back to back to put Conner back in front. From there it was a one point game until the last 5 seconds when Conner comes up big with a steal and Hemmerich nails two from the line to ice it for the Cougars.

 

I'm not sure how many 3's Conner made this game but I know they didn't miss very many...very entertaining game and made the ride home a lot better with a W.

Just looked at box score. Lex cath was without Luke Johnson. That puts a big * by this one. Couldn't figure how that was even possible when i saw the score..still a nice win but not the shocker first thought!

No Luke Johnson definitely changes things for the Knights. Looks like Payne had a big game though!

Regardless of injury, great win for Conner early in the season. They are a solid ball club within the 2nd tier of teams in NKY.
