November 25, 20169 yr My BFF, let's call her General Brown, is in charge of our shopping. She decided a surprise Thanksgiving night attack was in order. First target was Target. That battle was successful, as she scored a 32 inch TV for under $100 and some sort of "Beat" headphones for her soon to be teenage son. We then commenced operations at Oxmoor Mall. The enemy was vastly under numbered there and we made short work of him, scoring amazing deals on three pieces of hard sided luggage at Macy's. We scouted a Bath and Body Works in said mall, but the enemy seemed too densely packed (and smelled too good) for easy acquisition, so we backed away before pursuing that target. We refueled at Auntie Ann's Pretzel, before moving on to our next target: Mall St. Matthews. Immediately, we could tell that this would not be an easy task. Parking lots were packed, but we found a lucky spot at JC Penny. We used it to gain entry to our #1 target: the Vera Bardley store. It was a hard fought battle and we almost lost a (wo)man, but emerged with a victory...and a large assortment of purses, totes, backpacks, lanyards and ID holders for 50% off. Currently, the general is amassed on Floor 3 of JC Penny, deep in the bedding section. I myself retreated to the Icee stand at the food court and am currently awaiting my next orders.
November 25, 20169 yr Did you get close enough to B&BW in Oxmoor to catch a glimpse of Sgt. Brown?
November 25, 20169 yr Author @scon36 Sgt. Brown was embedded behind enemy lines until closing and must report for duty again at 0600. We did, however, make visual contact.
November 25, 20169 yr Author We are on Round 2. Shopping at Kohls was easy and loaded with good deals, but the lines are LONG. My pal got almost $1000 worth of jewelry for under $200. On to Dick's Sporting Goods.
November 25, 20169 yr No Christmas shopping, but had to stop in Lowes for a couple things and it was busy. I assume Christmas trees were on sale because there were people all around that area.
November 25, 20169 yr Author A little after 11, we saw people lined up around a Party Barn. Not sure what was going on there. We scored MASSIVE deals at Bath and Body Works today. You can use coupons three days early and you can "stack" them. Our results were two HUGE bags of bath products, hand sanitizers, and home fragrance for only $20! Dick's was also a a success. Lots of sweats and athletic gear, use of coupons made it very lucrative.
November 25, 20169 yr My favorite part of Black Friday is actually Saturday when all the good in-store fights get uploaded to YouTube.....
November 25, 20169 yr My favorite part of Black Friday is actually Saturday when all the good in-store fights get uploaded to YouTube..... They've already started to be posted.
November 26, 20169 yr Author I saw no madness anywhere. Actually, we commented on how friendly and happy everyone seemed. Years ago, before I started going shopping with my pal, I thought that Black Friday shoppers were silly and greedy. Now I realize that for many, it is just another way to spend time together. There is sort of a treasure hunt feel to it, planning out how to cover as many stores/deals as possible, but at the end of the day (or days, this year), we have caught up and laughed like crazy. For us at least, it's a perfect way to spend time together.
November 27, 20169 yr Ended up getting a GoPro, a Smart TV, and a bunch of Christmas shopping done. I know most people hate it, but the wife and I enjoy the whole Black Friday thing. We don't go out until late on Friday and still get everything we're looking for every year.
November 28, 20169 yr Didn't do any shopping this year. Can't really find anything I'm interested in online today either.
