November 23, 20169 yr This number is always interesting to me, in the games that you can schedule yourself, how tough do you choose to be. I certainly understand the different philosophies, and that you need a balance between cupcake and brutal opponents, but the teams that choose to take a VERY easy walk through their non-conf always make me chuckle. A few that appear like they are going to be cupcacke-city until conference play starts: * Gonzaga 155th toughest non-conference schedule (expected ranking) * West Virginia 261st toughest * Iowa State 310th toughest * Creighton the 192nd toughest (they don't have another "decent" team until Big East play begins) * Wichita State the 300th toughest * Miami (FL) the 311th toughest * Houston the 226th toughest * Wisconsin the 231st toughest * Oklahoma State the 223rd toughest * Northwestern the 284th toughest * Texas Tech the 319th toughest * Marquette the 248th toughest * Kansas State, the 343rd toughest * Rutgers the 338th toughest * NKU the 288th toughest
