I've got a cousin who is part of the LGBT community. Her father (my uncle) posts a text message she sent him the other night, and it read "Dad. Please tell me everything is going to be ok?!" She's 23 years old. College graduate who has the world by the you know what because of her intelligence and PERSON she is.

 

And, I sat there reading it thinking...."WTH ______ what do you really think is going to happen?" (It was another "WT" along other lines, but still).

 

A lot of people have been scared by others on the left also. A young man that I know really well, that is gay, had been scared to death that since Trump was elected he would be forced to go through "Conversion Therapy". That what his friends had told him, he isn't political at all so all he knew is what is friends supporting Clinton had told him about Trump.

 

There is a lot of fear mongering in America right now and it's not all coming from one side.

I haven't either but folks are going to believe what folks are going to believe. All I know is that basketball season starts soon and I may have to get gas in rural Ky somewhere one night. I will be aware of my surroundings.

Funny side story on that you will appreciate. In college we are heading to Virginia for a game, and on the way we stop at the rest area close to Natural Bridge in Powell County. Two of my closest friends then and now, like you, "a little bit darker" come find me and say "We're with you bro. Don't be sneaking off." Of course, we laughed about it.

 

Fast forward a few weeks later and we are heading to a game in South Mississippi....late that night the bus stops at a rest station in Memphis. Well, you already know; I went straight to them and said, "I'm not leaving your sides." :lol2: :thumb:

Well, they're only isolated incidents. No one cares about them yet.

 

Hopefully those people are arrested and charged. America is no different today that it was last week, people on both sides need to quit acting like they have a mandate to now act like donkeys.

Absolutely, but based on the tone of his campaign rhetoric, one side seemingly has or believes they have the blessing of the leader of the free world....That's the main difference I see, but it's absolutely happening from both sides.

My 13 year old son getting drafted into a war that was completely preventable

 

Economic decline, the middle class carrying even more of the burden

 

Varying forms of hate being acceptable

All I can do is all I can do. I've got a very diverse group of family, friends & coach a very diverse group of young men.

 

I've not taunted who I've voted for just like I wouldn't any other year, but when people ask (and, most always do) I don't hide from telling them. I just hope that my relationships with them (and, hopefully others out there like me who voted for Trump) will let those who have fear find a little comfort that "Hey....things are going to be ok (and, hopefully then some)."

Nope. But if G was elected president I bet he would tell the country the truth about aliens.

 

If I was gay I would definitely be concerned that a man who believed he can shock the gay out of people is now the VP. I don't think he would set up Gay Concentration Camps throughout the country. It's simply the fact that he believed it.

 

It's no different that all the gun lovers out there that lived in fear for the past 8 years about Obama coming for their guns. Did it happen? No. Were people legitimately scared? Thought so.

FWIW, I don't see Pence or Congress pushing back against that ruling...SCOTUS has ruled, no need to waste time or energy trying to fight it...I don't think they will either.
