November 10, 20169 yr I saw this in another thread and I thought it deserved it own. Why do many believe that placing an outsider in the White House will eradicate all the establishments ideas? Where I live the complaints are rampant but we just sent Rand and Rogers back! We sent Mitch back, and I would wager about anything he is elected again in a few years. Does establishment only count if you run for president?
November 10, 20169 yr Hellcats I think they mean everyone. Including Mitch and the other corrupt Republicans as well as the corrupt Democrats. There are bad on both sides. Rand is a different animal.
November 10, 20169 yr Unfortunately for Trump and fortunately for Mitch, the only time Mitch will be up for reelection is when Trump will be up for reelection. Trump could afford to stoke the fires of the "Ditch Mitch" congregation in a mid-term year, but I don't think he will for a presidential year. Could be wrong, it's not like the guy is that predictable. I think Paul Ryan has two choices: play nice and support the Trump agenda or get his big boy pants on if he want's to keep his job. I think the relationship between Trump and the Republican leadership is going to be the most interesting part of all of this.
November 10, 20169 yr I'm curious if we are going to get see more "everyday Joes" running for the House and Senate. If you only have established politicians running against each other, it is hard to drain the swamp. If you don't get a choice in the primaries to choose a non-established candidate, tough to drain the swamp. No one is going to drain the swamp by voting for a career politician in another party.

PP92 you were 100% sure he would never be elected either. Hopefully we can get rid of all the bad politicians from both sides. November 10, 20169 yr Trump being an outsider may help Congressmen that in the past have been under the thumb of some special interest. Seeing how Trump is probably less beholden to any group than any President in recent history, they can always blame not getting some "pork deal" passed on Trump.

I'd love to see Pres. Trump fill as many positions as possible with outsiders, we'll see how he does it.

Does establishment only count if you run for president? Nope, drain the swamp is for all the old ineffective rhinos who are part of the old guard who escorted us into this mess. ( Republicans and Democrats)

November 11, 20169 yr Author But Kentuckians just put Rogers and Rand Paul back in. Very few incumbents lost in a year where most of the electorate chose to change everything. I feel like @Clyde here, and I just can't get my head around this.

I feel like @Clyde here, and I just can't get my head around this. Rogers has done quite a bit for his district over the years, that could be why they keep re-electing him.
