October 26, 20169 yr So they "strip them of the title". Everyone, even U.K. fans know they won the title on the court. Why wouldn't the university just say screw you, we are keeping it up? If a school actually just ignored the order what can the NCAA legally do? I never did get this. Like with the Reds, MLB says you can't recognize Pete rose. Why can't the Reds just say shut up we do what we want?

I'm ignorant of how the schools and NCAA work together obviously, but unless they have a signed agreement for the policies in place what real power does the NCAA have?
October 26, 20169 yr The NCAA vacated USC orange bowl win. They in essence vacated their title. True, but some argue that the NCAA didn't actually take the title away, the BCS did. There isn't a NCAA D1 title officially in football, it's always been awarded/selected by a 3rd party.

They could drop out of the NCAA and keep their wins and title if stripped, but they would be on the outside of the NCAA looking in.

Probably some additional penalties as well. FWIW, there is Zero chance that UofL would refuse to, if told to vacate those wins.
