Remember when Shawn Music broke his arm. Cory Caudill stepped in a done a decent job. I said in the earlier thread I would like to see both teams come away injury free. Atleast JC has some different options at qb this year.

I think we need to step away from the football aspect of the injury and its effect on the team. You are acting as though it is no big deal that JK went down and that JC can just plug someone else into that position. A "TEAM" is more than just a group of interchangeable parts that can be exchanged at will. It is a group of individuals working together to achieve a common goal. And, when one of those team members go down the thoughts should be about that individual rather than who can we replace him with. Have some compassion and don't act as though it is no big deal because JC has competent replacements.

They do, and unlike Music's situation (which was a very severe break), Coach Matney has two nice QBs to step in immediately. JK Ratliff was the backup to Sean Music in Matney's first year, but after he tore his ACL, and with the numbers not like they are today (72 players), I think Coach gambled that because Sean was so tough, we wouldn't need a backup QB. If you recall, we upset Clark County the night Music broke his arm, and needed only to beat North Laurel the following week to secure a 4A playoff spot. One week just wasn't enough time to work in a brand new, inexperienced QB, and I know we tried Caudill, Grim, and even Conley that night, but nothing worked against a team we were supposed to beat. Had we played NL two weeks later, things would have been different. We're fairly deep at QB now, and I bet one reason is that Coach never forgot that unfortunate and unlikely 2004 experience when he started the season with 2 very good QBs and ended by working in other position players.

I don't think that's what he meant, but its very unfortunate because JK has already payed his dues and this was his team to direct. He'll be back in time though.

Loosing J.K. is a very big deal. I am just saying that having players that can step in to the qb spot and be able to play decent is a great. Ian or Dennis cant fill the shoes that J.K. left.

I made a mistake on the score...

Johnson Central - 35

Logan, WV - 8

Great game EAGLES! Does anyone know how many are out with injuries for JC? Did anyone see Ousley at center or on defense? I heard Logan still hung in the game. Any truth to that one?

Chase Richardson, Cody Lowe, Shaun Ousley, J.K. Ratliff are out with injuries. Everybody but J.K. should be back pretty soon, hopefully within the next few weeks. Logan hung in there because JC didnt have much offense the 1st half.

Don't quote me, but I don't think Ousley played. Logan played very inspired in the first half, and Central had difficulty sustaining on offense. The second half was a different story. Could've probably scored another TD or two in the fourth Q, but Matney started subbing. Logan had a hard time scoring against the backups, and played their starting O-line (or at least a bunch of guys with very muddy jerseys) the entire game. There has only been 1 TD against the starting D all year, an improbable pass by the South Point man-child QB after scrambling out of 3 or 4 tackles, but I'm glad Matney lets as many kids play as possible and doesn't worry about the stats.

Johnson Central is #2 in the wymt moutain top ten. Rockcastle County is #1.

We're No. 2 on YMT (for what that's worth). Rock is still No. 1, even though they edged Corbin 2-0, and South Laurel, which hadn't shown much until tonight, beat Corbin 21-20. That ranking is just fine, as far as I'm concerned, because we have alot of work to do from what I saw tonight.

The wymt top 10 is nothing more than a good discussion on bluegrasspreps.com imo. JC has alot of work to do as you mentioned. Bryan Station will be JC's test. That will let everybody in eagleville know what to expect from JC come november.

The weather had a huge impact on tonights game. At first I thought just winning the game 6-0 would be okay by the way things were going the first half. Then JC played the way i thought that they would in the second half and blew this game open. I really was hoping for a shut out tonight, the second one we have lost this season. But in all honest it was nice to see the jv and freshman get some PT tonight in varsity action. Hated to see JK go down tonight, but glad to hear that he will make it back for this season. Both Ian and Dennis played great at the QB position but we are going to miss that passing threat with JK out. Anyways great job Eagles and good luck Logan on the rest of the season.
