JDOMAX Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 1a Ryle (TBD) 1b Cov Cath (TBD) 3 Highlands (lost to Cooper) 4 SK (lost To Highlands) 5 Beechwood (Beat NCC) 6 NCC (Beat Cooper, Lost to Beech) 7 Cooper (Lost to NCC, Beat Highlands) 8 Conner 9 Campbell 10 Boone Thoughts?
UKFAN#18 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Most of this will be settled on the field over the next couple weeks. But Cov Cath and Highlands are definitely over top of Ryle. Based on who they have played so far IMO. Otherwise pretty good list.
JDOMAX Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 I left off Dixie who should be in the 8th or 9th spot. Overall a lot of pretty talented players
UKFAN#18 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Idk about placing Dixie above Campbell and Boone. Didn't Boone beat Dixie? And I would say Campbell will take Dixie today, when they play.

Based on who they have played so far IMO. Otherwise pretty good list. No way HHS is better than Ryle until that gets settled on the field. HHS has had some bonehead games that never should've ended the way they did...BUT...they did. HHS only loss this year should be from Trinity IMO (HHS was actually winning that one in the 4th qtr but ran out of gas to a really good team) Winner's win...if Ryle's record is much better than HHS then I give them the nod until proven otherwise. We actually play Ryle next week so that question should be answered REAL SOON. My Top Ten... 1a Cov Cath (TBD) 1b Ryle (TBD) 3 Highlands 4a Beechwood 4b SK 6 NCC 7 Conner 8 Cooper 9 Campbell 10 Boone
JDOMAX Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 The next 2 weeks will be fun. NCC plays Beechwood again tonight. This game has been in the works for a couple of weeks. Both teams play a tough schedule, so the Coaches wanted to make this a game about playing everyone. Should be fun.
UKFAN#18 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 We will see soon enough. However IMO the better team won in the Cov Cath/Highlands game. "Winners win." Best of luck to all of the teams for the rest of the season. It will be a fun couple weeks.

Since Beechwood and NCC don't play a true big school schedule. Beechwood has not beat any big Schools, while NCC did beat Cooper who had 6 turnovers that day. So if people are going to keep Highlands in the top 2 or 3 and not penalize them for losing to Cooper. I am not sure how you can penalize Cooper and Conner and put them behind NCC and Beechwood, for NCCs win over Cooper. Beechwood and NCC have very good freshman teams, especially for small schools. It's impressive that they can field a true freshman team since most small Schools can't. However since they don't play a big school schedule, it's hard to say they would be better than some big school teams. I think the definitely would compete well, and could win or could lose a lot of them. It seems both of their rankings are based of one win. So hard to just assume they are better than say teams like Cooper and Conner.

I think you have a true top 3 and then the middle tier'd schools and then some of the schools that have really struggled this year.
katbird Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Beechwood played CovCath last week and it was a 2 score game. The game would of been much closer if the Tigers wouldn't have had so many turnovers. I also believe there were a few starters out for Beechwood. Beechwood can compete and play with any NKy freshman team and beat most of them...

I belive the Covcath game was a 3 score game until 3 minutes left. Covcath controlled it like they have against most of the freshman teams this year. So there really is nothing to base it on that Beechwood would beat most freshman teams. Could they yes, could they also lose to most of the big school freshman teams, yes. This year especially there is nothing to base it on to think Beechwood would beat most big school freshman teams. They could win most or lose most.
katbird Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 The only reason it was a 3 score game was because of one of the worst non offensive pass interference calls I have ever seen. This allowed the offensive player to just walk into the end zone. Not making an excuse but a fact is a fact...horrible!! Out of the handful of frosh teams I have seen HHS looks to have the best team to me followed by CCH. I know CCH won by a point in a rainstorm. If they played again I would take the Birds!

Beechwood can compete and play with any NKy freshman team and beat most of them... 2 vs 3 score loss, turnovers, injured players, bad calls and weather. Did I miss something? Every team has had to deal with that.
