Top 10 Freshman Teams in NKY

Featured Replies

I have a hard time putting Beechwood or NCC over Cooper or Conner. Since Beechwood and NCC don't play a true big school schedule. Beechwood has not beat any big Schools, while NCC did beat Cooper who had 6 turnovers that day. So if people are going to keep Highlands in the top 2 or 3 and not penalize them for losing to Cooper. I am not sure how you can penalize Cooper and Conner and put them behind NCC and Beechwood, for NCCs win over Cooper.

Beechwood and NCC have very good freshman teams, especially for small schools. It's impressive that they can field a true freshman team since most small Schools can't. However since they don't play a big school schedule, it's hard to say they would be better than some big school teams. I think the definitely would compete well, and could win or could lose a lot of them. It seems both of their rankings are based of one win. So hard to just assume they are better than say teams like Cooper and Conner.

NewCath beat Cooper?

Yes first game of the year 28 to 21. Cooper had 6 turnovers that day, and NCC did a great job capitalizing on them like teams are suppose to. Ncc deserved to win that day, a team doesn't deserve to win turning the ball over 6 times. 5 of them being fumbles or bad punt snaps. Was a nice win by Ncc that day.

I totally agree with your thoughts on rankings. NCC and Beech both played Lawrenceburg. Both teams tried to find games with big schools but big schools have only 1 open date to play game. NCC has Lebanon and Anderson the next 2 weeks. Tough tough games.

I agree and I think they both have nice freshman teams. I just wouldn't rank them over Cooper or Conner. It seems people more weight into the NCC win over Cooper and used that to justify NCC and Beechwood being ahead of both Cooper and Conner. But people seem to put little weight on Cooper beating Highlands and seem to just say well Highlands must have had a off day and still rank them as one of the best.

When in reality in the NCC Cooper game, Cooper had 6 turnovers, which turnovers are part of the game so they didn't deserve to win with 6 turnovers. While in the Cooper Highlands game. It was a game Highlands actually won the turnover battle 2 to 1 and scored on a pick 6. So the turnover battle favored Highlands and they still lost. Cooper held Highlands to one offensive touchdown, while Cooper ran for over 200 yards and scored 3 offensive tds. Yet people put more weight into the NCC win over Cooper and use that to justify NCC and Beechwood being ahead of them. While Highlands lost to Cooper gets over looked and not penalized while in reality their best win is only over Simon Kenton.

I think they both could compete with most freshman big school teams, but I also think they could lose to them too. So since they don't play them, I can't justify putting them ahead of other teams just because. I hope in the future they try to schedule a big school schedule every year no matter what type of freshman team they may have because most years they could compete.

I would have CovCath on top as I think they are the best right now until we see how Ryle does against their tougher part of their schedule. I think it's Covcath and then team 2 through 8 could all compete and beat each other on any given day.

I think Top 3 could beat each other any given day for sure. But to just say Covcath then everyone else is wrong. Yes I'm a Birds fan but that was a war in terrible weather which was decided by 1 score. If that gave you the feeling they were head above heals better than the frosh birds I don't believe it. I think it's Ryle, Highlands, and Covcath in any order right now.

Based on what? Based on what you said I guess we could assume teams 1 through 8 could be a each other on any given day. Cooper beat that Highlands team in every facet of their game, except for turnovers. Unless you want to say Highlands just had a bad day that day. Then if that is the case then you also have to realize it's possible the only reason why Covcath only beat Highlands by 1, was because maybe CovCath had a bad day that day.

Right now CovCath has beaten Highlands and taken care of every other team they played by pretty comfortable margins. While Highlands lost to Covcath and and also lost to another team CovCath beat by a decent margin. So yes there is reason to believe Covcath is simply better than this Highlands freshman group. They beat them and have been more consistent all year.

Highlands freshman team is a great team. And saying CovCath has the better freshman team means nothing for the future. It just simply CovCath has been the better freshman team and results show that. There is a lot of talent in this freshman class for a lot of schools. It should be a fun few years.

I'm getting here late and I know NCC beat Cooper. But didn't Cooper have turnover issues in that game?

They had 6 turnovers that day, but that is part of football and so NCC deserved to win that day. It just seemed people more weight into that Victory and why they put NCC and Beechwood in front of Cooper and even Conner. Yet people seemed to not put much weight into the Highlands losing to Cooper the next week after Cooper lost to NCC. So that's why I wouldn't put NCC or Beechwood ahead of teams who play a full big school schedule based off of just one game. There is a lot of talent in the freshman groups in nky this year though for a lot of teams.

Wow, just wow coming from you.

I left off Dixie who should be in the 8th or 9th spot. Overall a lot of pretty talented players

Campbell beat Dixie tonight, I think the score was 40-6. Looks like Dixie will be slotted in under Campbell.

Most of this will be settled on the field over the next couple weeks. But Cov Cath and Highlands are definitely over top of Ryle. Based on who they have played so far IMO. Otherwise pretty good list.

Saw that Highlands took Ryle. How did everyone else fair this week?

Ryle is a very solid team but I think last night answered a few questions. I'm pulling for them next week, but I don't know that Ryle has the offense to hang with Cov Cath. Cov Cath's line will be a problem for Ryle.

I think the top 3 will finish out...

1. Cov Cath

2. HHS

3. Ryle

Based off the Ryle CovCath game determines the top spot still. Covcath wins they are obviously 1, Highlands 2, Ryle 3. If Ryle beats CovCath they based off the tiebreaker over CovCath would be the mythical freshman champ, with CovCath second and Highlands third.
