COVCATH (5-2) at HIGHLANDS (1-6)

WHEN/WHERE: 7 pm Friday at David Cecil Memorial Stadium, Fort Thomas

WHAT TO WATCH: CovCath won at Grant County last week, 56-7. Highlands lost at Dixie, 40-20. Highlands beat CovCath twice last year - 14-10 during the regular season and 44-22 in the third round of the 5A state playoffs. The last time the Colonels beat the Bluebirds was in the 2006 playoffs. Highlands' defense allowed Dixie to rush for 545 yards last week and is allowing an average of 292.3 rushing yards per game. However, CovCath's offense has thrown for more yards (1,605) than it's rushed for (1,198) on the year. Leading rusher Casey McGinness has tallied 596 yards and six touchdowns. He may have gained some confidence after picking up 98 yards and two TDs on just eight carries last week. When Highlands has the ball, keep an eye on junior receiver Nick Veneman. He has five touchdown receptions over the last two weeks.

Defense penetration? I told you I'm a stupid mother what does that mean LOL? I'm so not kidding either I'm really sorry. I see my son tackling I don't know that he's tackling the right person but he does make quite a few tackles lol.

Side note hands on head looking to heaven is not helping. Old Bird I stated that this season was coming at least two years ago, but 1-6 losing district games without Jimmy and Joe aided by sad angles, poor adjustments, and beaten by the jet sweep come on. We just don't out execute anymore.

If you do not load the box on a team that does not pass you should get beat by 20. Football 101 even for Mom's. I hate to think what JC would do to these team with that run game.

Defensive players, generally defensive linemen or linebackers, getting past the line of scrimmage and into the offensive backfield to rush or break up plays being made by the quarterback and/or running backs.

 

It means a defensive player is thwarting their blocker and causing mayhem for the opposing offense.
