Everyone's having a problem with the coaches but st what point do we lay the blame on the children? I think there's enough blame to go around. In the perfect game he would play what position and why? In my opinion if they're going to start doing away with coaches then they had better make a rule for the children too. We can all give our opinion on what's wrong and what isn't wrong but I urge you all when your boy's get home today ask them what they see the problem is. See what they tell you. It's a shame we even have to discuss this issue. I know people say this is a down year but them boy's are very talented. So I ask again what do you see needs fixed that the coaches aren't seeing?

 

The kids have to be put in the right position by the coaches to succeed. I just see kids out of position to make plays. Also there isn't NO in game adjustments going on. That's coaching not the players.

This is what gets me.... does anyone know if BW is completely hands off on defense? I feel like this is what he and his assistants used to do so well for the D at halftime. It would almost be like a complete different defense coming out in the second half.

I've heard a lot of people asking that same question. But from my understanding my son say's he's offense. I was told he was going to help out on defense last week but I don't think that happen. I'm not going to pretend that I know what that answer to this problem is because honestly I do not. But I do see there is a problem. Oh thanks for the kind words. I'm not being hard on myself I'm just being honest. I don't know one thing about football I just go to support my son. Because that's what mothers do right lol. I just find it very sad for these boy's.

This is just a part of what appears to be causing issues for the Defense, IMO

 

Tackling angles are poor. I don't know what is taught or what play was called, so for me to criticize kids for not reading the proper keys isn't my place. I have seen 2 games now where the guards have pulled and the ILBs have filled the vacancy instead of shuffling with the guard and finding the ball. Dixie did that a lot. Again, if HHS was bringing A gap heat to take away the dive, then he didn't have the guard as a key. However, if he didn't, then that is a bad read. So, my take:

1. Way too many false steps out of the linebackers.

2. Bad tackling angles as a team

3. and this is what is very, very unusual about HHS, 1 kid at the point of contact for the tackle. Highlands FOREVER was the best at getting 4 to 7 kids to a tackle. A lot of that has to do with not getting off of blocks both in the interior and on the outside.

 

So...IMO, it is either the players are doing what they can and are not as good as the opposition...or, HHS players need to go back to the basics and focus on their fundamentals and many problems will be fixed. I feel like it is a mixture of the 2 and the platoon needs to be put aside and allow for rotation among a 2 deep at the position. Some kids will have to play both ways.

Definitely agree the only issue is that maybe they don't have the athletes to fill that many linebacker positions or DB spots. I haven't seen them play enough to really know what the issue is.

I believe I remember hearing that BW took control. If that's the case I really can't comprehend how he can sit there game after game the way its been going and not say or do anything to help out the defense. It's mind boggling.

I still think Jones is calling the defense. Yes I remember when BW was doing defense an there was always adjustments.
