April 6, 20179 yr 8 games remain and Chelsea is still hanging on to a 7 point lead over Spurs. Big day yesterday, Chelsea holds on for a 2-1 win over Man City, while Spurs needed a goal in the 88th minute to tie Swansea, but finished it off with two more goals in stoppage time to give them the 3 points. Had Chelsea slipped and Spurs won the margin would have been cut to 4 and things would start getting interesting. As it stands, Chelsea still has fixtures with Man United and Everton, but most of their games are against teams near the bottom (Sunderland, Middlesborough, etc.). Tottenham has a pretty light schedule themselves so it should be interesting. Chelsea did drop three points this past weekend to Crystal Palace but I don't expect too many more of those performances. Should be interesting!
April 6, 20179 yr Top of the table as it stands now.... Chelsea (72) Spurs (65) Liverpool (60) Man City (58) Arsenal (54) Man U (54) Everton (54)
April 6, 20179 yr Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Swansea facing relegation. Sunderland and Middlesbrough seem to be locked at this point, while Swansea, Hull, and Crystal Palace battle for survival (all separated by 3 points). Surprisingly, West Ham is only 5 points clear at this stage, not the season I had expected from them.
May 8, 20179 yr Chelsea 3:0 Middlesbrough Big few days as Chelsea now stand one win from the title thanks to Spurs still managing to be Spurs and dropping a 1-0 decision to West Ham on Friday. Blues on pace to become just the sixth team in the Premier League era to win 90 points in a season. Middlesbrough are unceremoniously relegated. Enjoy the second division.
May 9, 20179 yr ManU is all in on winning the Europa League as their CL ticket They should be better than any of the teams left. Assuming they hold serve at home and at least draw Celta Vigo on Wednesday, I don't see either Lyon or Ajax having the stuff to beat them. I'd be pulling for Ajax if it happened though. The realities of the modern soccer economy have not been kind to the Dutch league and Ajax, one of the legendary clubs in the history of the sport, has really fallen off. This is their best squad in almost 15 years, since young Zlatan was plying his trade there.

Chelsea are the Blues, but also the Pensioners. What's up with that?
May 9, 20179 yr Author Things you will hear EPL announcers say that you won't hear most other places. "He has delivered a lovely pair of balls." "Nil-nil is a huge score." "Clinical", "technical" and "fitness". And as an aside, when the physios come out to attend to a fallen player on the pitch, so they ever open their satchels?

They put a C team on the field vs. Arsenal Sunday. I'm hoping they can win Europa.
May 9, 20179 yr Chelsea just has to win 1/3 with matches against West Brom, Watford and Sunderland. I like their chances! Go Blues!!!!
May 12, 20179 yr ManU is through to the Europa League championship. Is that a single match or a two-week series?
May 12, 20179 yr ManU is through to the Europa League championship. Is that a single match or a two-week series? One match. In Stockholm this year.
May 12, 20179 yr One match. In Stockholm this year. I thought so. Well that's their ticket into Champions League. Have to win one match. I don't think they are getting into via Premier League now, even if they win their last 3.
