Any good video cameras?

Any ideas on a good inexpensive video camera

What's "inexpensive"?

Not 400

Depending on what you want to record, a GoPro camera does a very good job for the money.

I use a Cannon vixia hf r500 for doing most of my video media work, but have found it cumbersome to use to shoot sports. The zoom function just isn't fast or smooth enough. I also use a Cannon PowerShot SX-40 Digital SLR, which takes fantastic video. Both are priced at the top of your budget, though.

GoPros are fine for action cams that do not require a lot zooming and the good ones are going to be at or above the upper end of your budget.

You might consider a Cannon PowerShot SX 410, it runs under $140, takes good stills and has adequate video capabilities. If you have a Best Buy close by, you can go in an test it and other camera's out.

After we've answered the Ref's question, can someone point me in the direction of a video camera capable of a live stream?

So far my phone or an iPad are the most logical choices.

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T6, which is a DSLR similar to the PowerShot SX-40 that Swamprat mentioned. Agree...it takes fantastic video. The T6 is also capable of adding an external video microphone, which is really a good add. (My brother-in-law's professional wedding videographer did the entire wedding using a DSLR equipped with an external video mic this past June, and the video turned out great.)

I don't have much of any experience with any kind of other video recording, but if you're able to stretch your budget up to the $400-$600 range, I would highly suggest trying to do so. It will really open you up to some quality options in the DSLR cameras.
