Hearsay Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 This game used to be one of the state's best cross-town rivalries, but Bardstown has dominated for several years. This year, Bardstown has shown surprising resurgence despite the loss of 15 seniors, and has been very sharp. Nelson, with new coach Bart Bruner at the helm, has new life with an opening-day victory over Bullitt East, a new offense, a new defense, and if they can control turnovers (6-7 in loss to Butler), maybe a new look at this rivalry. Anyone else?
duckman Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 In my opinion I think Bardstown dominates and win by at least 20.
CharlieWeis Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I think that what Coach Bruner has going is an awesome start. However, the Tigers will have too much speed and should handle the option attack. It must be noted that anything is possible in a rivalry game. Bardstown 28 Nelson 14
XCard Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I think Bardstown wins another one. But as stated, you never know in a rivalry. I don't think many picked Nelson Co to beat Bullit East either! Coach Bruner is going to bring that program back, and quicker than people think. So Bardstown better enjoy their recent domination, that's going to end. But for this one: Bardstown 21 Nelson Co. 13
nikeman Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Bardstown has to much for Nelson to handle, all Bardstown 38-7
Mr. No Name Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Even though I hate to say it, Bardstown is just a bit to much for Nelson County again this year, but it will be closer than lots think. Tigers 32 Cards 27

Tigers 32 Cards 27 Who is playing on the OL/DL for County this year? Last year, they averaged about 185 across the front, this year it seems like they are much bigger. Where'd these guys come from?
CardinalFan55 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 The two tackles are Chris Simpson a sophmore transfer student from Elizabethown.. I think he attened T.K. Stone as a middle schooler.. The other kid is nicknamed Dino.. Don't know his story just that he played when he a freshmen didn't like coach Mason and quit and now tha Mason is gone he is back.. Realistic: Bardstown 21.. Nelson 7 Hopeing for: Nelson 28- Bardstown 21 I don't think Nelson will give up more then 21 points to Bardstown, yes they are fast but Nelson has a great defense.. Butler did most of it's scoring in the 1st half and they have some extremely fast kids.
Toothpick Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 One has to think Btown but I was suprised will Nelsons early success, I have to pull for the little guy in this one, good luck Tigers

He played last year, but just wasn't ready. Great kid..works hard. Good luck Cards.

Patterson, Knight, Williams, and some of the other starters were all there last year, and Bardstown's speed was way too much. If anything, the Tigers may be faster in different ways this year with Scott, Downs, Graves, and Hughes. Does Bruner's new defense contain speed more effectively than the old 4-4?

I'm not sure what look Bruner will give Btown, but I do think the defense will be more disciplined than last year's. DE's and Backers will have to be sound to control the speed factor. If Cards can keep it close early, it could be a good one! Wouldn't be surprised if Bardstown's early success this year comes back to bit'em.

EasyPro Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I've seen Btown play. Good speed...as always. Never been technically sound. Nelson might not have all the talent, but I believe the cards will do the little things right this year. This is not to say they'll be victorious friday, but I think they're taking steps in the right direction.
