Boone County school district doesn’t allow teams to practice on Labor Day.

Labor Day practice was a tradition for us (not as nice as Thanksgiving day practice) and it served two purposes. We had to help clean up whatever mess was left over from the Labor Day fireworks and kept most of us from getting to out of control on a Sunday with no school the following day.

Labor Day was always the Monday before our first game, and the last weekend before school started. Don't remember doing anything special, just that it was that point in time when things started to get serious and the season was about to get started.

Hope everyone has or had a great Labor Day practice. Thankful I still got to be there today at my age. No better place to be the first Monday in September.
