In the 13th...Why not try Clay County?

 

I agree, after working as part of the media during the 15th Region tournament last year, there is no place better than the Expo Center for a tournament. Hands down.

I believe Clay and Bell have very similar gyms. I would think either one would be okay.

Bell may be a long haul considering teams from the 15th have to cross Pine Mountain in January.

True. There's really no easy way to get to Bell from the 15th region area...and vice versa.

Knox Central has a new High School , and I assume they have a new Gymn as well. Probable seats 3500 to 4000. Just thought I would throw that in Professor.

I was told Knox Central's new gym is smaller than the old gym.

I say move the tourny to the East KY Expo Center for a year and see what happens...

 

If the tournament was moved to the East Kentucky Exposition Center, I think you would see the 13th Region gradually fade out of competition. The travel is just too difficult for the winter.

You're right, I saw the gym last week and it is smaller. I believe it seats about 2,500. However, it is very nice, fold down seats in the lower part of the gym, all four sides.

I think the gym itself is actually as big or maybe a little bigger than the old one but the upgraded chair style seating takes up more space so that seating capacity is 150-200 lower. A reasonable trade off in my opinion.
