Can anyone compete with or beat Bowling Green? Is Fern Creek going on a roll again this season? Will Highlands be back to the Highlands we were used to? Will this be the year Covington Catholic wins that district?

Did the Bluegrasspreps' staff get it right? Who moves after week one? Who belongs in the Top 10?

I am really intrigued by Fern Creek. Their defense last year was REALLY good. They lost several KEY players, especially Kinslow (spelling?). May try to see them play Manual if I can't get to BG next week.

I think Highlands will take some lumps early, but be strong in the back half of the season like last year. Will take their lines awhile to gel.

Don't have enough info to know what to make of Cov Cath.

HUGE test for Christian County this early. You don't want to be traveling to BG the following week with an early Lose.

South Oldham is a Dark Horse. Only lost to Fern Creek in the playoffs by 1 and by all accounts returns more than FC does.

Greenwood is a scary team. Watch that early game at home vs South Warren. Should be very entertaining!

The one team that is on the outside looking in with a chance IMO is Graves County. If they can go to a very good Hopkinsville team and win, they deserve to be on this list.

Saw the Fern Creek vs Bullitt East scrimmage on Friday. Fern Creek's defense is still very good. Bullitt East did move the ball but FC kept turning them over. Fern Creek had 6 take aways in the 1st half. Bullitt East has some talent, but you just cant turn the ball over that much. I heard BE had two projected starters at wide outs that were out. It likes FC will be in the hunt again.

Graves county is definitely a top 10 team...hopefully after Saturday night against hopkinsville we can cement that spot...AP currently has Graves' at #11..

I am curious about Cov Cath. The Colonel fans seem to be playing it low key. Do they know something? Year two of Eviston I expect a big step forward. A really good up and coming QB. A sophomore RB that is going to be very, very good. A D1 lineman. There is more. I get the feeling this team is laying in the weeds and ready to spring a surprise. I would be very leery of them if I were a Ryle fan.

Still waiting to hear how Fern Creeks offense looks without Kinslow and White. That was the majority of offense. Yes they have athletes but they lost some lineman too. How did the offense look in the scrimmage?

Good question FB! I would say the Seneca game isn't going to tell us much, but think the Manual game will. I might go to that one. Should be fun!

They struggled to move the ball against Buliitt East. BE fumbled the ball 4 times and threw two interceptions, one for a td. The score was only 13-0. I left at halftime, they were putting in subs at that point. Can't say if either team was holding anything back, i suspect that both were to some degree.

I am curious as well. I know it is just a scrimmage but I heard, read, and saw that they struggled with a Campbell County team that many people thought was going to be down again. Campbell looked pretty decent, and 14 of Cov Cath's 21 came off messed up plays by CC. Is that something to worry about or does the Park Hills Folks feel pretty good about the scrimmage?

I think you are right. Manual will be the early measuring stick for FC, and for me, where their offense is at. I believe the defense is fine but if they have trouble against good teams moving the ball/scoring it will tough. I am really interested in seeing where the passing game is at without Kinslow. Will teams load the box and dare them to throw? That is why I am hesitant to rank them so high this early.

All good points! And if I'm not mistaken, FC's best play last season when they needed something on offense was to just throw it up to Kinslow and he'd go catch it for them. Don't think they have that this year, but we will see. I would certainly load the box and take my chances with them.
