Ohio County's Logan Eaton---Undefeated 8-0 and Unsigned

He was seen and contacts were made. I just differ with the conclusion. The kid would have been effective and a good sign for the next level....in terms of a winning pitching staff. IMO, he had a very good shot at developing into a solid contributor to a collegiate pitching staff. He was a quality pitcher that got lost in the shuffle.

The next question is what level was he looking play. There's not a ton of money to go around in college baseball. And low 80's and right handed isn't going to get you beyond Walk on status at D2 and above, regardless of your record in high school. College baseball is tough to break into. if offers are light or not coming, he could alway give it a shot at the JUCO level and look to move up in a year or two, especially if as you say, he has upside.

No...he can pitch at the D2 level. Also, JUCO doesn't always mean lower level. Look....there is a difference between pitching and throwing. Pitching requires deception...e.g movement, angle, release points, timing, change of speed. Give me a kid that can learn how to pitch....a smart kid....pitching is a thinking man's game.

College baseball, in terms of execution, is fairly weak. Great athletes, but I notice they struggle with basic baseball strategy and knowledge.

JUCO isn't an option for this young man.

Again, I'm not commenting at all on this young man's ability. Just relaying my experiences as a former D1 player, and grad assistant coach who did some recruiting/scouting.

Does not appear that D2 is currently an option either?

Hopefully he gets the word out and has the opportunity to continue playing if he so desires.

Same here...played D1 and coached D2 and NAIA. Done my fair share of recruiting. From a recruiting standpoint, it was a tough call. He had a lot of those intangibles you look for in a quality player and I simply thought he projected well. Scholarships are very limited.....no doubt. He needed a program to give him the opportunity....money wasn't the paramount issue I don't believe.

OK so where is he going to school? Can he try and walk on even if it is a smaller school? I agree that first contact is summer ball and sometimes it just happens to be throwing well on the one day somebody sees you. With the amount of NAIA schools in KY I got to believe even at this point one of them would bring him in for a workout if he wants to be seen.

Didnt read every comment here but Baseball recruiting must be very very strange - I know a local kid that went UNDEFEATED in his HS career , won back to back state titles at d3 in Ohio , had tremendous control and was mid 80's . And didnt get nary a D1 look , was barely recruited all . Went NAIA and is doing very well. I think his career HS record was 33 or 34-0 .

What I have learned with baseball going thru it with my oldest is people spend way to much money on it. Colleges dont give all that much money for baseball. If you get 5-8k a year for baseball you are doing good. You as well off to pick 5-6 colleges you would like to attend and go to their showcases they are usually cheap 75-95 bucks. You can do all 6 for what some showcases cost.
