Oh. How long does one serve after graduating? Didn't he graduate in 2013?

They used to have spend a bit more time to pay for that great education. Heck, David Robinson spent a year or two in the fleet before he got released and he was "The Admiral".

Back when I was coming out of High School when you went to West Point or Annapolis it was basically an eight year commitment. Viet Nam was raging and was not a war that was widely supported at home. As a result the academies were have great difficulty getting the kind of applicants they wanted/needed. The post graduate requirements started to be relaxed.

NAVY.

Congrats to a very special young man that not only stands out on the gridiron but in life as well. Not only will he continue to play football but he will also help protect, serve and defend our country.

I am rooting for him to get 29 TDs this year for him to become BGHS alltime scorer. He could get it no problem if coaches gave him the greenlight but he and all of PurpleNation support Coach Wallace and his decisions with the kids.

Congrats Jamele!

Congrats.

I thought you couldn't sign with a team till Feb.?

Is this just a commitment?

Snake,

He said via twitter that he is "officially committed" to play football at Navy with a photo of his family and the Navy recruiter.

I got to meet him this weekend and he is nothing but a class act 100%.
