Played against him back in the day. Where has he been coaching?

 

Asbury, where he played in college. Was a men's assistant, spent a year as an assistant at West Jessamine and then went back to Asbury. Coached the women's team there to their first conference championship.

 

I spoke with him yesterday -- seems like a great hire for Casey County.

Definition of a good Coach: opinion of a good coach is someone who cares about the kids more than theirself and teaching them the game..

Yes winning is important, but cursing and degrading kids, letting parents of players clean your house for ya, misplacing 10,000 dollars of booster money, uniforms missing, school vaccumm found in your house after moving, and using AAU connections to help win is not a good role model...(wouldnt made it out of district with out the new players) Oh and having documented behavior patterns in the the past before, all of this is not good...A Coach should be able to take care of their self an family first before they can teach any kids about sports life or life in general....But going to the region is good..

I think a few coaches have done that in the past...also with losing records though...

Maze did a ton of good at Casey County and I have spoken with quite a few 12th Region coaches who all had a ton of respect for Maze, his coaching abilities and what he did at Casey County. Everyone in this area knows it isn't easy to win at Casey County and forget about the records. Look at his postseason success at Casey. That's all that matters. He did a damn good job at Casey County.

You can say what you want about Maze. It won't change the fact that he was very respected amongst 12th Region coaches for his coaching ability.
