Why in the world are Somerset and caverna playing?

 

Somerset locked in a 2 year contract when their former offensive coordinator took the head coaching job there in the 14-15 season... This is the back end of that obligation even though he is no longer there.

Why in the world are Somerset and caverna playing?

 

Former coach was a former Somerset Assistant...I think he scheduled this game trying to build the Caverna program. Somerset took it to help him out.

 

At least that's how it was explained to me.

After taking in a 7 on 7 I can see that the passing game will be ok if the QB gets time. I haven't seen a depth chart but if #10 is the kid from Southwestern, then he's gonna be nice IF the line can give him time. I haven't seen the line in action yet but if they can do the job the offense will have some weapons.

 

Doan sat out which worries me about health. I'd like to see that kid just be healthy for a season of play.

 

Defensive secondary will be ok. Still have to see them line up to stop the run.

 

Once they pad up in week 1, you'll know a lot about this team. I'm sticking with 6-4 as the regular season record but the devil will be in the details. Got the talent, but can they put it all together?

They sat a few guys the other day to get young guys reps AND because it was less than 48 hours out from playing 8 games at the Lindsey passing tournament; they don't have any injury problems (knock on wood) currently.

Somerset looked really good at the 7 on 7 at North Laurel. I think Somerset is poised to have a breakout year! Good coaches, nice athletes with experience and depth equals good things!

Their interior was weak last year. I don't think that will be the case this year, defensively the secondary could be one of the best as a unit that Jumper fans have seen in a long time.

Their inside 7 were physically weak and young last year. That group has all 7 starters benching 300+ and squatting in the upper 4s to low 5s so I'm told. They apparently had a monster off season in the weight room.

 

I would add that they were all freshman and sophomores at those positions last year and they were really talented just weren't physically ready to play... That will not be the case this year...

Good news to hear that the team is healthy. Better news to hear the line has stepped up to the challenge of pushing themselves to get bigger stronger. Potentially this team has a chance for greatness.

Will the "real Jordan Doan" please stand up, please stand up. Lol... I hope coach Lucas is right! I predict a special year. They may struggle early but by district I say they will be very tough! Healthy bunnies = lots of W's this year. Also what about Ty Tevis, he cracked me up. He is a great kid, great personality and a heck of an athlete. Love the attitude of these kids. Go Jumpers!

I'd love to see the Jumpers back on top of the district. If Jumpers can win their district I like their chances of making a looooong post season run.
