June 20, 201610 yr Does anyone from that area know how long they will be working in the area around NKU? Have been stopped dead in traffic or extremely slow traffic on 3 different occasions over the past 6 weeks trying to get to or from Newport or Cincinnati? It's the quickest way to get to those places from the Bracken/Mason area that I come from and would have avoided after the first traffic issue if knew what they are doing would take so long. What exactly are they doing, looks like a prisoner work release program making a lot of dust for the most part
June 20, 201610 yr I dont know, but it's almost as bad as the Bellevue/Newport exit. Last week they had the area outside of Applebees down to 1 lane and caused so much traffic it was awful.
June 20, 201610 yr I work right there on 27, and it has been a pain. I think they at least have a couple more weeks of work left as I thought it ran through June. At first, they were replacing sections of concrete. Now, they're taking out all the lane reflectors and scraping the surface of the concrete. They're back on the north bound side this week.
June 21, 201610 yr Take AA to 275 and go up and get off on 471. A lot less traffic and lights. Yeah, that route is MUCH quicker than going 27.

June 21, 201610 yr You can use the AA and go through Wilder to get to Newport and Cincinnati. Take AA to 275 and go up and get off on 471. A lot less traffic and lights. Except everyone tried that this morning Haha. It's been backed up to the hill since 6:15. 3/4 the way up the hill right now.
June 21, 201610 yr The light at the bottom of the hill is awful, especially if you are turning. And I think they should eliminate the lights between the one at the bottom of the hill up to UDF.

It wasn't any quicker for me. They were hard at work today, passed 5 of them at 7:25 all leaned against a truck chit chatting. Must have been their union required break or something.
June 21, 201610 yr It would make too much sense to work on south bound lane in the morning and north bound lane in the evening. Triple the amount of people head north in the morning
June 21, 201610 yr Author Is there any reason why no one in the state of Kentucky and maybe other states? don't believe in doing construction from say 10 at nite to 5 the next morning? Is it a union thing, just plain American laziness or what? I could probably find you a crew of Mexicans that would work round the clock and have a 6 week job done in 1. I just find jumping off on #27 usually is a lot faster(normally) than going for what seems like forever down to the bottom of the hill and hitting 275. There is usually police around there that keeps everyone at 35 or so. #27 normally moves well for me,except these past 6 weeks. Traffic backed up for miles at some of the times have been on it
