Open Job: Powell County

Featured Replies

Spoke with Dave today.. He is excited and eager to get started..

I was at the regional championship game at Breathitt when Powell won it in 1974. As the game was winding down Fraley turned around to the Powell fans sitting in the stands behind their bench and gave them either the number 1 sign or a V for victory sign, not sure which. But it put the Pirate fans in a wild and loud celebratory state of mind. It was their first regional basketball title.

Powell had a player who wore glasses nicknamed Goose. He was about 6'5 and was a handful for any opponent. He played at a high intensity and was deadly with a turnaround jumper from around 15 feet. Fraley has always been good at taking kids and molding them into very good players. I'm looking forward to seeing how his second stint at Powell plays out.

Do you think maybe Powell County will play Pulaski County, Father vs Son. I remember when Fraley ran a summer team camp at some church in Powell County along with Tom Cramer and others.

Would be a good game but unless Powell has remaining dates available, I think their schedule is complete....Unless Pulaski competes in Powell's Red River Classic @ the end of December

Powell County is about to get better
