Notre Dame is clearly the strongest NKY team. St. Henry should be considered #2 until they are beaten locally but their recent victories over local teams have been less than overwhelming. Still, until someone jumps up and beats them, they appear to be second.

Notre Dame beat Louisville Mercy today in four. Big, big win for the Pandas! :ylsuper:

Congratulations to the Ludlow Panthers for winning their own Ludlow Classic Tournament on Saturday August 26th. Along with Ludlow, teams from Dayton, Bellevue and Holmes 1st competed in morning pool play and then single elimination play in the afternoon. The Panthers rolled thru the tournament thru out the day not dropping a game to win in rather convincing fashion.

Congratulations to All-Tournament Team selections Sophmore Julie Hardin, Junior Michelle Papas and Tournament MVP Michelle Landrum for their outstanding play on Saturday and to all the Panther girls and to Coach Schmidt and her staff..

Great win for the Pandas. Anyone have any details?

Isn't NDA the clear favorite with SHDHS being the only other candidate?

I think NDA is the favorite until someone beats them. NDA and St. Henry are always 1 and 2. I am just saying that it seems that it could be anyone this year. The public schools are finally getting stronger.

McCreary Central hosted a tournament this weekend. Southwestern came in first place, McCreary Central came in second. Way to go Raiders!!

Great win for the Pandas. Anyone have any details?

Scores were 25-19, 14-25, 25-18, 25-23

The Pandas played great as a team yesterday. I can't even name one individual that carried the team on their own. It has to take a team effort to beat a team like Louisville Mercy. It's good to see the depth of talent that the Pandas have this year. And NDA's Coach Ha is not afraid to go to the bench and use it. :thumb:

I assume that they were playing 3/5. How is it determined if it is going to be a 2/3 or 3/5 match?

Also heard that the JV won as well. Looks like NDA is going to be back on top for awhile.

.

Its my understanding that schools are allowed X number of 3/5 matches per season. They get to pick which ones they want to be 3/5.

Yes, the J.V. won in 2 and the Freshman lost in 3. I heard the freshman match was close though. Mercy had a freshman that started varsity, played J.V. and played Freshman. That's what you call a F-L-O-A-T-E-R.

 Why coaches do that I'll never understand??? They should be only allowed to play 1 match a night period!

Thats an awful lot of playing for a young girl. Not sure that is in her best interests. Seems like your chance of injury, especially if tired, goes up considerably. Wonder if she has to practice with all 3 teams as well?

 Maybe you should write a letter.;):D Just kidding, but some schools need their girls to play in more then one match and don't have the luxury of just having a girl play in one. ZX3 you need to broaden your thinking some and look at the whole picture once in a while instead of someone who is always a Top 5 school in the rankings and has a number of talented girls to choose from..

Yes...some schools just don't have the numbers to fill 3 teams...but rather than cut a bunch of players to form only 2 teams...they let freshman play on both the freshman team and possibly JV or Varisty depending on talent level. Or a school may have a large number of freshman and small number of sophomores and juniors and may need people to play on both JV and Varsity to be able to field both teams. Smaller schools and schools not typically known for volleyball have tougher times filling a roster.

 Ohhhh...you again! Why all the sarcasm all the time?

If you do not have the numbers, then don't field a team for that particular age group! Easy enough, isn't it????

You should be able to play up for sure, but if you play up, you should not be able to play down too.

I know most teams do it for number purposes....but some do it for WINS.
