Highlands moves to Region 2 for 2016, 2017 Football Playoffs

Featured Replies

From the article:

The Bluebirds will open the playoffs against a public-school Louisville program in the Fern Creek Tigers, Atherton Rebels, Doss Dragons, Fairdale Bulldogs, Iroquois Raiders or the Southern Trojans. Highlands has faced those schools just one time in its proud 101-year history. It came during the 2000 Class 3A state championship run when the Bluebirds handled Fern Creek, 55-0 in the second game of the season after a 42-29 win over Louisville Trinity to open the campaign.

District 5 will be paired with District 3 in the 5A playoffs in 2017 before facing District 6 opponents in Region 3 again in 2018. District 3 consists of the Bullitt East Chargers, Bullitt Central Cougars, Nelson County Cardinals, North Bullitt Eagles, Oldham County Colonels and the South Oldham Dragons.

Aside from that, fans could notice a huge change in the state semifinals. Highlands would play host to a team from around Bowling Green from District 2 or from the western Kentucky District 1 such as Christian County or Owensboro. The Bluebirds would hit the road for the state semifinals to one of those places in 2017.

Michael generally writes good articles but is this "cart before the horse"? Don't you have to make the playoffs or does everyone make it? Just not a big fan of Karma...

Does this mean Covcath is finally set free from the Bluebird wrath?

So you are being critical of the article because you think it is a stretch to state Highlands will make the playoffs?

You can't escape anyone in your own district unless a team from a large district finishes 5th and fills in for another district that only has three teams in it.

Hey I'm a Highlands guy and yes I believe they will make the playoffs BUT I felt like it was a bit on the arrogant side. Just a bit... As my JV baseball coach Kenny Sheilds say "you know what happens when you ASSume"

Kenny has a lot of good stories.

don't most make the playoffs?

Unless the district itself changes, yes everyone will make it. There's only 4 teams.

Then I digress.... I would think I Would know that...

It is definitely a hot topic on the football board. Just wonder why is worried about an article about making the playoffs when they all make the playoffs.
