So after all the drama leading up to this point, is this a good hire? A great hire?

Don't see him having success he can't commit to the program until June. Will only be around Bell just a day here and there. Won't have a lot of help with quality assistants.

I hope he can make it work.

Football is a fall sport, yes you need to work out and have some meetings. You can be successful without all the stuff in the off season. Belfry doesn't kill the kids in the off season and they have great success. Everyone newsflash this is HS Football not NFL or College. Let kids be kids and work smarter not longer.

Do you carry this same opinion toward basketball with summer games and aau and toward baseball and softball with fall ball and travel ball? I agree that all sports, from elementary to high school, are very, very time consuming. However, football may be the least of such, specifically in Kentucky. We struggle as parents and coaches to keep up with summer ball and aau and every other pipe dream factory, what is football left to do?

So they don't lift or run any during the off season?? I find that hard to believe. They are doing nothing at Bell Co. right now and haven't since December.

And they will continue to do nothing as long as the head coach stays in GA.

I said you workout and do meetings bobcat dad, simply saying this isn't college or NFL.

I hope he can make it work.

Agreed, Im not going to bash the guy because he has a limited schedule. Knowing hes still teaching in Georgia and has to fulfill that commitment till the end of the school year.

If the team is not lifting and getting in some workout time it is unfortunate, but nothing about this hiring process has been ideal. Bell County had a hard time finding their new coach, and if Coach McCreary is the right guy for the job, a few weeks in the off season with limited contact will soon be forgotten. I'm sure when he makes the move, he will be 100% devoted to this job and I wish him and the Bobcats nothing but the best.

If I were a Bell County booster, I think I would try and rally the troops, bury all the negative past, and move forward with support and encouragement. These kids need to hear a lot of that and see it from the community. They need to clear all that negative stuff out of their domes before it starts to take root. Just my opinion, of course.

The administration has made that hard.

Whitewater was a solid Georgia program under him and by all accounts he was a beloved figure. This bodes well for Bell County.

My biggest question though is how much gas is left in his tank?

Bell is like a beautiful Victorian house in Lexington that you buy at a foreclosure and get a steal. The potential is there and it is classic, but there may be a lot of work to do behind the walls to renovate.

Bell needs a serious overhaul from the Feeder System to the top and things won't be as easy as they would have been 6 or 7 years ago. To return Bell to the elite status someone is going to put in a lot of hours and will have to be willing to endure the negatives and criticism as they rebuild.

McCreary has built a program before...but at his age and coming in as a "retired" coach I just have to wonder if he will have that drive to go through the process all over again?

Have to fix the foundation first before you can rebuild Bell's House. Problem with that is the foundation are the ones really in charge. Not sure how this all shakes out.
