The administration has made that hard.

It may be a tough thing to do, but the right thing often is, and this is the right thing to do for this team. If the fans, boosters, parents, etc. want to turn this thing around, they need to have a short memory and a long vision and it starts with building them up off the field and supporting the new coach and his staff in word and deed. The psyche of a 16 - 17 year old kid is a fragile thing and they can be easily influenced, good or bad.

Whitewater was a solid Georgia program under him and by all accounts he was a beloved figure. This bodes well for Bell County.

 

My biggest question though is how much gas is left in his tank?

 

Bell is like a beautiful Victorian house in Lexington that you buy at a foreclosure and get a steal. The potential is there and it is classic, but there may be a lot of work to do behind the walls to renovate.

 

Bell needs a serious overhaul from the Feeder System to the top and things won't be as easy as they would have been 6 or 7 years ago. To return Bell to the elite status someone is going to put in a lot of hours and will have to be willing to endure the negatives and criticism as they rebuild.

 

McCreary has built a program before...but at his age and coming in as a "retired" coach I just have to wonder if he will have that drive to go through the process all over again?

 

So what is wrong with the feeder system? Do you mean the youth leagues or Middle School? Just looking for clarification.

 

Our youth leagues are in pretty decent shape but not sure if the support will continue because those teams were coached by the coaches from the previous staff and some former players. The middle school is not really a middle school, that does cause problems. We have 6 k-8 schools spread throughout the county with 2 schools having little to no involvement in sports.

Despite all the doomsday reports on this thread I have no doubt Bell Co. will be who they always are - tough nosed mountian boys who love to bust team's in the mouth who underestimate them. I venture to say the doomsday people will only fuel their fire!

 

I expect Bell County to have another great year despite all the distractions because at the end of the day it is the players who line up Friday night that get it done. Bell County has players that can get it done! Coach McCreray landed a good job with great parental support!
