That was the beginning of the end of the lucrative Telegraph Operator gig that mcpapa had going at the time.

I start off Sunday School each week with a "Today in History" segment to get everyone awake and participating...I was struck that these three facts came up on 3 consecutive Sundays...

 

2/14/1876 Bell and Elisha Gray both applied for a patent for the telephone

2/21/1878 just 2 years after the phone was patented the first directory was published

2/28/1885 AT&T incorporated just 9 years and 2 weeks after the Bell received a patent for the phone

:lol2: the average age of the class I teach is around 65-70...I start with this upcoming weeks weather(old folks always want to know the weather), today in history with 6 or 7 things from that date, a joke and then the lesson.
