Vinny Rey re-signing with Bengals

Featured Replies

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the deal spans three years and is worth about $11-12 million.

Rey, who turns 29 in September when his seventh NFL season begins, has been with the Bengals since signing as an undrafted free agent out of Duke following the 2010 NFL Draft. After beginning his career on the practice squad, Rey made it onto the 53-man roster late in the 2010 season before becoming the special teams captain, a role he's held for much of his career in stripes.

Glad to see it. Vinny made 3.1 million last year (three times his best ever) so this is a nice contract for him and he definitely fills a need for the Bengals.

Good resigning. Very versatile player that makes plays when on the field.

He will probably start the first 4 weeks.

At this point he will have to. And he is a backup starting.

Again, have to see what Dawson can do, also have to see if the Bengals address LB in either FA or the draft in a meaningful way.

I'm glad my neighbor is staying put. But there was a huge dropoff between him and Tez. That's not a knock on him at all, I just think Tez is that good.

Is Rey your neighbor? I thought I remember something about you hanging with Lamur.

He calls it "hanging," the courts....they call it stalking.

LOL, no not Lamur.

I have Vinnie Rey house to the left of me.

Shawn Williams is across the street and 1 down and then Derron Smith ® in the house to the right of me.

Jayson Dimanche was a couple doors down before he went to Cleveland.

Me too! LOL.

We are moving in a month though. So no more Bengals neighbors :(

Sounds like a fun place. Why are you moving?

Very good and smart signing. He is a good player to have, and is smart enough to backup all the linebacker spots and plays well when he does have to start.

So the Bengals are spending money on a backup player? Seems to me I heard someone say that Mike Brown is to cheap to do that, acting like other owners all pay big bucks for backups?

Sounds like a fun place. Why are you moving?
Townhouse to a real house. And 500 more Sq. Ft.
