Did Henschen really only have 173 rushing yards? That suprises me.

I say that at the end of the year it will be:

1. Mayer

2. Racke

3. Henschen

What are you basing the rankings on?

The fact that Mayer has a season under his belt in Eddie's system, and I see him having a Brady Hightchew type year. He may not put up the #s of Racke (who I really like), but his efficiency will be night and day over last year.

Umm did you forget about Tanner Morgan? Kid does have multiple D-1 offers already and is way ahead of 2 of the 3 you mention and IMO better than the 3rd as well. Time will tell I guess.

I forgot that he was only a JR. For some reason I thought that he had graduated. That definitely changes things. I agree that he has to be #1 in the preseason, and probably #1 after the season. I really look for Mayer to have a huge year as well. Might turn out to be a good year for QBs up here.

Racke threw less ints, and had a better completion % and can run wild on teams. But Morgan probably has one of the strongest arms he can fire the ball. Head to head Racke is 2-0 over Morgan. Both are great qbs. Every qb I listed is good.

To be the man you have to beat the man as Rick Flair would say.

I'm really interested to see how AJ Mayer develops from his SOPH year. He'll be bigger and stronger which will allow more zip plus I think he will devote more time to the position this summer. Kid has every chance to be a stud QB by graduation.

Does the fact that Mayer now moves to the baseball diamond have any impact on his development as the quarterback next year? Is there someone in the program that can take advantage of the fact that he will not be there for spring practice?

I'd say it will depend more upon summer baseball than high school baseball.

I've never been one to think spring practice is that big of a deal.

Most teams set it up so players don't miss out on practices don't they?

No idea. No baseball players will make spring practice. In the past it's always been right after school which is when those players will be on the diamond.

I agree with this. It is nice to be able to get out and get some rust off, and brush up on technique, but I don't see it as a necessity. More like a luxury. Eddie played 3 sports in high school. His 2 QBs at NewCath played baseball. He knows how to work around it.

Like you said, summer baseball will be the difference maker. Camps are becoming so much more important to help with development. Does he play travel ball? An athlete like that, I'd feel like he does.

No way baseball players could get a whole spring football practice session in. They might be able to make a couple days, but for the most part, you can't count on baseball players making it.

I'm also of the belief that the importance of spring football is way overrated. Sure it's nice to get a few extra reps in. But spring ball isn't going to make or break a season.
