His bankruptcies are so far down the list of reasons. One note, there is a discussion going on in here about the validity/purpose of our bankruptcy laws. Without wading into that fully, I will just say that if bankruptcy is a necessary thing, and beneficial, then doesn't the person and business usually not have the ability to pay the debts in full. I know these are just businesses he sets up, and then they fail, and he can't pay the bills from those businesses, but he could in fact pay the bills with his other money, if he wanted to.

The actual bankruptcies were a hotel and 3 dealing with casinos in NJ.

 

For how things go in real estate and hotels just look at the hole in the middle of Lexington. The casinos were struggling due to gaming growing in other parts of the country and general economic downturn.

 

These were not 100% Trump endeavors. Other investors were involved and mixing of businesses and finances is not at all a general practice.

This isn't personal bankruptcy it deals with business dealings. Anyone who acts like it's a big deal is just naive to how our system works.

That would go against the whole idea of running multiple businesses. Anyone that consolidates several businesses into one is an idiot, due to the fact that if the business goes bankrupt, they lose them all. It's a flaw in the system that lets a lot of people line their pockets, Trump has mentioned himself that it is a flaw. He simply took advantage of it, just like millions of others have, it's hard to fault him for that. I would have to search for the quote, but I believe when he was asked about it in one of the first debates he said that it was a flaw in bankruptcy policies and that it needs fixed.

I agree to an extent. But the one issue I have with it is that some people take advantage of it, by starting several businesses, lining their pockets then filing bankruptcy on the unsuccessful businesses. I worked for someone that did that for a living it seemed, yet he was living confortably enough that he had a half million dollar house, box seats for the Redskins games, etc.

 

Once my pay started coming late and short, I seen the writing on the wall and left. He still owes me about $4k in money I'm sure I will never see, his cell tower business is now bankrupt.

This should be more damning than his bankruptcies. Imagine Trump as president while reading this.
