I have also talked to some raceland players and they all are saying the same thing!! They all say "Its a family" and "Its a pride thing"! I belive that these boys will go as far as they want to if they work hard and work our the mistakes! I think we will be suprised by the rams this season!

I wish the injured players a speedy recovery. i also want to thank the compliments about clint thompson in behalf of his papaw colegrove. We are old buddies. He hasnt been able to get out and see his grandsons but says he is sure to be at the Ashland game. We have the highest regards for the Lacks family. I spoke with Clint this morning and he said that the linemen was really working hard but said they were all still making mistakes they needed to work on. He wanted to say thanks to some of the boys that has guided him both in football and fellowship. chris lacks, john calhoun, brian williams, Raymond and the boys on the line last year took clint underneath their wings. The coaches treat these boys just like they were their sons.Clints words were "we are family".

:thumb: Nice post oldram!! Kids helping others is what high school football is all about. My son was one of the kids that you mentioned as being a mentor to Clint Thompson. I appreciate the kind words and am grateful of the fact that my son had respect and passion for others and led with Christ in his heart. I hope his friendship becomes contagious and everyone becomes a part of it. The other kids you mentioned are all great as well. And by the way, Raceland football is Family.

Everything is sounding good right now for our Rams. If I could tell them one thing it would be to keep working hard EVERY day in practice and on game night on the field. NEVER be satisfied, you can always get better. Keep up the same attitude in the classroom also. Lets go Rams (git-r-done):thumb: :flame:

:thumb: Nice oldrambler!! Never believe you are as good as you thought you were or as bad as you thought you were. Take one game at a time, stay focused on the task at hand and always respect your opponent. You are also right about the classroom work, academics first.

I wasn't there but heard that the Rams played well all evening and that Clinton Thompson had a great game. Raceland fans were proud that the Rams held state ranked Pikeville so well. Way to go boys! Now carry that forward to Ashland next week.

I have heard the same good reports on C. Thompson, he has worked his tail off to makle himself a ball player by getting in shape and staying in shape. Clint, here's to you having a great season as well as all of the Ram Family.:ylsuper: :ylsuper: Raclend players... current and past, fans, alumni, faculty and administration are all one family down here and that is where the "Ram Pride" comes from!!:jump: :jump:

You are correct rams78, Ram Pride has always been a big part of our football at Raceland. It 's part of the Tradition that has made Ram football a family affair for years. Raceland football always has high expectations and I hope this coming season is one we can remember for as long time!! Good luck to the kids and remember that you are a big part of something special and you have the support of the whole community.

:thumb: Yep, We here at Raceland have had experience listening to the former Nicholas County Coach Ben Pumphrey through the years and all of his lines of "el toro poo poo" pre game compliments, right cville?   And Greybeard aand all Ashland fans, I hope that you go 14-1 and win the state AAA title (I wonder which one that I hope you lose) :sssh: :sssh: ;) ;)

Several of the Ram Fans have spoken of our pride and tradition and family.

I hope the Family Ram will remember the current head coach is as Orange blooded as any of us and would limit criticism of his coaching. We never agree with each other on everything, but bottom line is noone and I mean NOONE cares more about Raceland football than Randy Vanderhoof. So when the orange clad fans disagree with the play calls or subtitution patterns or the offensive or defensive scheme, keep in mind he is just like the rest of us in he only wants what makes Raceland Football successful.

Play calling doesnt determine the kind of coach or better yet the quality of man leading a high school football team. Many of us forget it's just football and look only at the score or who scores or who plays.

Good Luck Ramblers.

Good Luck Hoof and the entire staff.

Have a great season.

Hoof was born to be Orange & Black. He eats, sleeps & drinks Raceland football!! He played that way & he coaches that way. Now he has one of the best coaching staff's in the state to go along with his program so things are at an all time high. Hoof has coached long enough to know that he will be criticized by some and can't please everyone, it comes with being a head coach. What we need to remember is that the players are kid's, some as young as 14 & 15. They need to be supported and encouraged by all the fans. These kid's sacrifice everything to play high school football and represent our school and our community, so the next time you run into one of the players on the street, shake their hand look them in the eye and tell them you appreciate everything they do.

TBF and cvillecat, I can't hardly add anymore to what you have just said. Both are excellent post.:thumb: :thumb:. I know that both of your blood runs orange and black (with some U.K. blue in there also). Both of your are true examples of the Ram Family Tradition.:thumb:

Coach Vanderhoof teaches more than football. He teaches leadership and values. This season, he will have them stand tall and proud no matter what the outcome of the game may be. No quitters. Play like its your last game with your brothers. I feel sometimes the crowd needs to sit back and take notice of the lesson we are being taught.

You are right cvillecat, Raceland has assembled a great coaching staff. I believe I counted 11 coaches at their first scrimmage. They have added two new coaches this year; Caoch Preston who was at Boyd last year and Coach Lewis who was a long time coach at Ironton (over 30 years I heard). You add these two to go with the guys that they brought in last year: TJ Maynard who played at UK and was the all-time winningest coach at Greenup, Gerald Parker who just finished at UK, and Mike Francis who played at Georgetown. Add all these guys to Coach Vanderhoof, Fannin, and Burroughs and you have a very good staff. I think you are seeing the kids respond very well to all of these guys and it has shown in the preseason.
