Lincoln County 52 Boyle County 49 (45th District Championship)

Featured Replies

Coach Adams has gone 7 deep his whole career at Boyle County. People said the same thing last season and 7 deep made it to the Final Four of the Sweet 16. Four straight turnovers to start the second half were harmful in way too many ways and they weren't fatigued then.

Lincoln may may have played 9 players but 5 players logged a majority of those minutes. It's not like they were subbing in and out the whole game.

IMO they don't close out games because they simply have a bad time running the offense when not looking to score and trying to kill clock. A lot of their mistakes are because they get careless or are trying to do too much. They'll make the hard pass instead of simply making an easy pass and setting the offense back up. I don't think they play at a fast enough pace for fatigue to set in.

Slone, Robbins, Elkins all 3 played 32 minutes. They are tired.

Alexander only came out to manage fouls. Cox only came out to keep his head cool.

Jackson manages his bench and rotates players to keep them rested. Just a minute here or there is all you need. Lincoln is better than Boyle simply because they manage a deeper bench.

Agree to disagree. Lincoln barely used any subs in the second half and I'm pretty sure Young, Alcorn and Goode played the whole game.

A team losing a game for the same reason they have lost at least 8 of their games this season has nothing to do with fatigue.

I don't understand why they don't run more offense through Elkins. There were a couple of games I saw this year where he had an obvious mismatch and it was almost like Boyle didn't even know he was on the court.

After Colton gets easy buckets to start the game and teams recognize that they need to pack the paint and take away passing angles it gets increasingly hard to get him the ball in good spots. Add in the fact that this team is turnover prone and those are two of the issues with getting Colton the ball or running the offense through him.

I do wish that if there is going to be a referee who used to play for Lincoln County working the game that a former Boyle County player/student is used on the same crew.

For checks and balances of course.

Are you saying that Boyle should be using a deeper rotation, or that Lincoln has more players to use in their rotation? You can't always play 9 guys just to have a deep bench. If you don't have the players capable of coming off the bench, then you have to go with a shorter rotation. It's evident that the starters are having a difficult time taking care of the basketball, so I'm going to assume that it would get worse the further down the bench you go.

Coach Adams is a smart guy. He knows what he's doing. If 7 is all he's playing, then 7 is all he's got. Adams has more information about his team than anyone else. I remember this conversation on here from last year. Worked out pretty good for Boyle then.

Yes to both.

Yes to both.

You've got to have the players to sub. Guess Coach K doesn't know what he's doing with his 7 player rotation either. It's strange how people outside a program question competent coaches who have more information about their team than they do. If Adams thought he could play more kids without it hurting the team, I'm sure he would. I'm guessing he's not stuck on 7 as his magic number.

Steve Adams has ready proven that he's an excellent coach. I'll take his word for it.

Lincoln won the prize.......................Southwestern.............not any better than Boyle getting...............Wayne.............overall tough day at the draw
