Another good game from these two teams. Two well coached teams and a great rivalry!

Lincoln made plays when they needed in this game. Boyle comes out the 2nd half and turns the ball over 4 straight times and went from a 29 to 26 lead to a 31 to 29 behind. 16 to 5 on the turnover is not good and you will not win that way. Lincoln scored 22pts off of Boyle TO and Boyle scored 0, yes 0 off of Lincoln TO. But you can't score of TO when they don't commit that many.

Jekyll & Hyde Rebels.

Great 1st half. Not so good 2nd half.

4 straight turnovers to start the 2nd half.

Elkins absolutely dominates the 1st half. Barely touches the ball in the 2nd half.

Boyle only scored 20 pts in the second half and shot 0 free throws. 10 field goals in 16 minutes won't win many games.

I have said it off the record and now I will say it for the record. Boyle barely goes 7 deep and in my opinion the Rebels wearing down is the primary reason they have been unable to close out 4th quarters all season long.

Lincoln, I believe, went 9 deep which is why they are the better team, at least 4th quarter team.

Congrats to Lincoln , 45th District Champs.

Game could have gone either way late. Boyle missed an unfortunate layup (rolled around and bounced out) and had a turnover right after that. Those mistakes can (and did) kill you in such a tight game.

Also, Lincoln made 4 huge free throws late.

How many shots did Boyle take in the 2nd half?

  • Author

13/24 first half and 8/16 second half.

13/24 first half and 8/16 second half.

I stand corrected. Boyle made 8, not 10 field goals, in 16 minutes.....ouch!!

Lincoln was 7/19 from the field the second half but was 10/11 from the line. They were only 3/3 from the line the first half. Boyle was 0/3 from the line the first half and 2/2 the second half.

If im not mistaken, I think when Lincoln went to zone all second half, and it limited Colton's touches. A lot of Boyle's TO came in the second half when they were forcing the ball to Elkins and Lincoln did a great job of not letting him get it. That was a smart move by Jackson to go zone in the second half, if he didn't do that Elkins would've had 30 points, Easy!

Congrats to Lincoln , 45th District Champs.

Coach Adams has gone 7 deep his whole career at Boyle County. People said the same thing last season and 7 deep made it to the Final Four of the Sweet 16. Four straight turnovers to start the second half were harmful in way too many ways and they weren't fatigued then.

Lincoln may may have played 9 players but 5 players logged a majority of those minutes. It's not like they were subbing in and out the whole game.

IMO they don't close out games because they simply have a bad time running the offense when not looking to score and trying to kill clock. A lot of their mistakes are because they get careless or are trying to do too much. They'll make the hard pass instead of simply making an easy pass and setting the offense back up. I don't think they play at a fast enough pace for fatigue to set in.

Baby J hit some huge shots tonight. That late baseline drive was a thing of beauty
