Butler was in to see Sloan tonight

Huge performance by David Sloan last night. He couldn't miss. He's better than Quentin now and will certainly be a Mr. Basketball candidate next year, however the "Gatewood Complex" will keep him from getting any votes, just like what's happening to Quentin right now. Taylor County is in a mess right now and it's all due to the outside influences they have trying to run their athletic department.

they just repeated as region champs, speak on what mess they are in?

gridiron guy - Your observation is correct, they repeated as region champs. The mess I speak of was made even more clear last night, and thank you for providing a platform to open up about this more - Quentin Goodin is, in my opinion without a doubt, the best player in the state and holds the most potential as a D-I prospect. That said, he barely received a "honorable mention" last night at the Mr. Basketball Award ceremony. The only, very single, reason Quentin did not get the Mr. Basketball award was because of the mess Taylor County has going on in their system right now. Evidently you're a TC supporter, so you're aware of the mess and you step forward in order to assert a defense for your beloved Taylor County, therefore I won't delve into it much deeper than this - other schools in the 5th and throughout the state, Coaches, school officials, do not like Gatewood; the same goes for the Cox's, Huber's, Haskin's, Noe's, etc. Continue to recruit players, continue to be brought before the KHSAA board, and have your recruited players made eligible, all the while damaging each and every thread of credibility as a school and athletic organization that Taylor County has.

If 5th Region Championships is how you measure success, well, then I am truly sorry for you gridiron guy.

I am a TC insider and am not sure what you are referring to. Please explain. I know that Gatewood is not well liked but then again success has a way of making that happen. I do know that others have tried to no avail to get Gatewood in trouble with KHSAA, but am not sure what you are referring to.

You're a "TC insider" - you know exactly what I am referring to.

There is a reason the Cox kid is no longer an "assistant coach" this year - which was a good move by TC, and I applaud.

So what is your connection to TC?

By NO MEANS am I a TC supporter. Actually I graduated from a rival 5th region school, and work (different school than I graduated) at another 5th region school. Yes I tend to fallow basetball and football closely with area (5th region). I've fallowed TC the last 2 years because of their success and cheering on area teams on the statewide level, as I do with several area teams in that sport.

Why isn't the Cox kid coaching anymore?

We will have to wait on Botswana to let us know, judging by the previous post, there is great vitriol for anything Taylor County.

wonder where he has went?

Right here, girdle guy. Your declaration that you're not a TC supporter amuses me, although you search and reply to month-old threads.

Yourself and the TC Insider here both know why the Cox kid is no longer an assistant coach - he became a liability and caused TC to come under the most scrutinized investigation, in recent times, by the KHSAA. You can't take a kid from another school to Taco Bell right after a District Tourney game, when word had already spread like wildfire that TC was recruiting the kid. There are pictures. Everyone who is anyone has seen said pictures.

At first this was annoying, but you two are making me enjoy this - playing dumb and all.

BTW, since I posses "vitriol" for anything TC, they win by 30 tonight against Mason and face Christian County in final four of Sweet 16.

Please keep in mind not everyone, myself included, is as in the loop as you are on this. Did they recruit Gaines, yes. Did Gaines recruitment raise scrutiny, of course it did. When you have the level of success that TC has had these past two years, other schools are going to look for anything they can do to derail you. After all the investigation, Gaines is playing tonight As for the vitriol, your post indicated a strong dislike for TC. Even though you are not a TC supporter, most would reasonably agree that TC has a relatively easy road to the final four. What I find interesting is the level of disgust for TC over Cox recruiting a kid. Recruiting occurs across the state not just at TC. There was even a thread devoted to that topic.

I'm sure Gaines had interest in TC as well. Gatewood or Cox or anyone else don't need to recruit kids to TC. Kids want to play with Gooden and Sloan...why you say....college coaches and recruiters will always be around. As for Gooden not winning or even being honorably mentioned as Mr Basketball, shame on the adults for doing that to that young man. But I've come to realize in the state of Kentucky this is about par for the course.

couldn't have said it better!
