Nice post. The yin and yang of players and coaches is +/- around 50%.

 

Perhaps. Ask most coaches and they probably disagree. I'm a lot better coach when a kid has talent.

 

To me, the true measure of a high school coach includes but is not limited to:

-Organizational skills

-Fundamentals being taught and executed. (Stance and alignment being a huge indicator)

-The impact on your players (do they play hard? Are they growing as people?)

-Where do your teams start and where do they finish? Do they get better throughout the year?)

 

Wins and losses and scheme are not always indicative of great coaching or bad coaching. The best coaches can't go to many of the schools in the state and build a power with the talent base on hand and the bad coaches can't go to Trinity and win state championships.

 

In my years of coaching I can't say that I've met a head coach that I didn't think was doing the best that they possibly could.

 

Mullins isn't a bad coach, like some have taken from his record. GC had talent this year and they had a nice season (few plays away from having a great season). They played physical defense and ran to the football. He seemed to be a great fit at GC, hopefully for his sake he's a fit at PLD too.

I don't like you? I don't know or at least don't remember ever having a conversation with you on here. Just giving my thoughts on the state of coaching as a whole. :thumb:
