Scrimmage Games

I know how you feel

I happened to stop by the Ryle/Cru game. First year in 6 that my daughter was not a member of the Cru which was not easy to see in person.:depressed:

St Henry's pitcher was on the shelf for a mild injury, no big deal. Some of the younger Cru looked like they made some nice improvement from last year.

Ryles pitching looked improved as well. I think they are well coached by a guy I don't know, but like a lot. He gets it. It nice to see that.

Just a really nice day to watch a game. Just like all early spring games are.

NewCath at Scott in the rain.

NewCath at Scott in the rain.

Scrimmage called after 3 innings NewCath 5 Scott 4. All pitchers having trouble with the wet ball.

Birds took on the Brossart 'Stangs at the Birdcage tonight...sort of... Rain from the first pitch. Spencer pitched one inning and recorded 3 Ks and gave up a laser double to left center to Seiter, who by the way also sent one yard later in the game. Kid has a nice swing. Blame that one on the pitch call.... Just kidding coach.

Birds plated 10 in the first with Graybill shooting a screamer off the third basemens glove driving in Coffey and Gabbard. Dutcher followed with shot up the middle. A sac fly by Daley scored Grimm running for Graybill. Dill up next hit a double to RC scoring Dutcher. A go, fc and walk and then sophomore Maleah Abner makes the off season work pay off with a hard shot to right in her first varsity AB picking up a couple rbis as well. A couple walks later and back to Coffey who burns the right fielder for a triple, driving in three.

After the first couple innings it was really getting messy and both teams pitchers struggled to grip the ball. Multiple substitutions made doing the book quite the challenge and I apologize for not having the Mustangs names as I did not ask for a line up. But everyone knows Miss Seiter, or they should. Kids a player for sure.

The score stayed the same till the third when Seiter took one of the Birds first varsity pitch deep to center. Five walks in the inning led to three runs with the score now 10-3.

The Birds plated three more in the fourth before it just became too muddy to play mostly due to the rain .. I guess just a preview for the Pete Knoll weather. Good call by the umps.

Overall good outing by the Birds. Considering five of the starting fielders just had a couple days practice fresh off the hardwood.

The Lady Stang that doubled and homered was their senior catcher Amanda Lloyd...

I apologize for the miss here... Lesson learned... Don't listen to a 17 year old... But they do know everything... Hey BGH was there. He should have given me a roster lol

No worries...BGH needs some time too to get into the groove again after his winter hibernation...like everyone in the area, can't wait for the season to get into full swing...

Understatement of the year....this sentence could have ended with: "BGH needs some time to get into the groove ."

Woodford 17 Assumption 0. 6 inning varsity game.

17 to 0. Really

Yes, Assumption new coach is going to have to figure out lineups and playing positions but she'll get there. Woodford is incredibly tough as well and played like a team that will challenge McCracken County in late May/early June.
