SK was up 10 at halftime from what I was told. Not sure what happened. I left before the game started.

Holmes (13-11) – Miller 3 0 6, McClendon 5 7 20, Greene 3 1 7, Moore 1 0 2, Arnold 5 2 12, Commodore 2 1 5. Totals: 19 11 52.

 

Simon Kenton (10-16) – Sergent 1 0 2, Cottrell 1 1 4, Kitchens 2 1 5, Fries 6 4 16, Sammons 1 0 2, Kelch 4 5 13. Totals: 15 11 42.

 

Halftime, SK 27-17: 3-pointers: H 3 (McClendon 3), SK 1 (Cottrell 1).

13 pts by McClendon in the 3rd to give Holmes the lead for good at 38-36.

Liked the game plan at the beginning for SK, getting the ball to the bigs. Then the meltdown in the 2nd half. However, it is hard to win games when 3 starters score 6 points combined.

In the CovCath thread someone mentioned Hawkins. Don't see him in this box either. Did he play?

He played

8 losses in a row for SK; not sure when the last time that was the case. They play Williamstown in first round of districts who they only beat by 4 in mid-January. Wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the first year SK doesn't make the trip to Henry. Hope they can put it together.

My preseason thoughts were that they were big at SK but worried about the back court. Is that the issue with this group, not enough ball handling?

Ball handling would certainly help but as a group their tall and long but not quite as quick and fast as they have been in the past and that really hurts. Defensively, they lack tenacity. You got to be able to get after it...

Maybe Simon Kenton can get the Wiggins kid from Newport to "jump ship". LOL
