Simon Kenton/NewCath Scrimmage

Featured Replies

I watched the first half and I believe it was Simon 14 NCC 13 at the half.

Simon looks like they are going to have their best football team in a long time and if they stay healthy they should be in the hunt to win the NKY 4A district. Good job Simon, keep it up.

NCC also looks like they are going to have a very strong team. Harris throws a great ball (better than Diehl in my opinion) but he is not as mobile but still moves good. NCC went with a no huddle offense signaling the plays in the game and went with a lot of trips. Vicars should also have a huge huge year in the NCC offense. Right now NCC is the team to beat in NKY 1A.

Does NCC appear to be as strong on the line as they were this time last year?

In short, yes, and maybe even better. However, Simon was putting a lot of pressure on Harris.

Harris has a cannon the only concern with him is will he be healthy the entire year. If so, I look for Vicars and Harris to lead the Breds back to the state championship.

In the 3 quarters of SK and NCC Varsity, NCC went up 26-14. Simon Kenton appeared extremely solid in the first half. One of NCC first half scores was an interception return for a TD. NCC missed 2 xp's. RB Michael Haught (transfer from Scott) from SK looked very good as did #22 rb Bishop. After a rusty beginning, NCC's new qb (#14) looked very good, as did their rb (#7). SK easily won the first half, but after NCC made adjustments at the half they ate up SK's defense. Their first drive of the second half was 4 plays 65 yards for a TD. Of note, SK recievers dropped two easy wide open deep passes that easily should have been caught for TD's, there were no defenders anywhere (one each half).

The JV's played a short fourth quarter and neither team scored.

Sorry, I didn't have a roster for the NCC players.

I agree with Ru, NCC's QB throws a very nice tight ball. SK moved the ball well in the 1st half but turned the ball over twice with INTs. The Neer D looked solid against the run and did fairly well against the pass, Larkins had some nice solid hits and tackles from the 2ndary. In the 2nd half NCC really set the tempo with their no huddle attack and they were very successful. They ended the first half with a lengthy drive after a Bishop fumble and they opened the 2nd half with another very long drive time/play wise. I think they wore SK down a bit in the 3rd quarter. Any questions about a dropoff on the hill can be thrown away, NCC will have a very good chance at bringing home the hardware again in "A" ball. SK should have a chance too, should be a good season in Independence.

I left after the Highlands scrimmage but the SK boys looked very big standing over on the asphalt. I saw some chisled dudes.....

After the half NCC had the starting line in with no subbing and was able to move the ball nicely. They were trying different combinations the whole first half. The senior line opened alot of nice holes for Vicars in the third quarter.

Total domination when the Breds had their first string offensive line in the game. SK will be good and looked decent the first half. Evenly played first half and the Breds dominated the 2nd.
