Science Friction Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 A new computer program can decode people's thoughts almost in real time, new research shows. Researchers can predict what people are seeing based on the electrical signals coming from electrodes implanted in their brain, and this decoding happens within milliseconds of someone first seeing the image, the scientists found. The new results could one day have applications for helping people, such as those who cannot speak or have trouble communicating, express their thoughts, Rajesh Rao, a neuroscientist at the University of Washington in Seattle, said in a statement. Science Friction Posted February 1, 2016 Author Posted February 1, 2016 Some very interesting and a bit scary ramifications down the road, perhaps? Controlling robots with only thoughts? Communicating telepathically?
TheDeuce Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Just another way the government is trying to control us.
spindoc Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I'd be shocked if there's a computer that could articulate the thoughts running around this brain of mine. At least I hope not.

Concentrate real hard on your thoughts. Let me try this out. You are thinking... "Trump and Hillary- Good God Almighty. Barry McQuire was right. We are bound to be on the eve of destruction." How'd I do , doc ?

MayfieldFan Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Not impressed with a machine that can read my mind. Women, Bourbon, Football, and Food is not that difficult to discern.
JDEaston Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Imagine if they put one of these things on Hillary then showed her a picture of a cigar? :scared:

JDEaston Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 What if they plugged up her and showed her some emails? She would deny ever deleting said emails.
OlDog75 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I'd be shocked if there's a computer that could articulate the thoughts running around this brain of mine. At least I hope not. I hear ya Doc. There could be times I'd probably end up in jail!
Fear the Nation Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Could be a great tool for law enforcement. Talk about a lie detector test. Detective,"Did you kill him ?" Perp, "no". Then they show him a picture of the crime scene. Result, busted. Can't control your thoughts as much as they control you...
