Living in this country and working hard you can fulfill a dream. All students should read this success story of how this young man took advantage of what was near him and stuck to it. Tip of the hat to BG and their school system and along with WKU summer programs. It's great to live here in this country. I thank God every day. I hope he makes it to NASA, I'm sure he will!!!

Bowling Green High grad, refugee gets full ride to MIT

Ervin Puskar may have a full scholarship to MIT, but the Bowling Green High School graduate is proudest of his accomplishments in English class and on the football field.

 

When Puskar, 18, arrived in the United States from Bosnia 10 years ago, he was already a math whiz, but he didn’t speak English and was a “little scrawny thing,” he said in an interview last week.

 

Today, he is an alumnus of the football team’s defensive line and speaks English without an accent. Puskar earned the highest score on the exam for senior advanced-placement English.

 

“I got a five in English, which is pretty amazing for me,” he said.

It makes me prouder to be an American when you hear stories like this. The opportunities the less fortunate good people from foreign countries are able to take advantage of. I wish him the best of luck and I hope you guys kick the you know what out of St. X..... Go Purples!
