born2reign
Megatron has communicated to Jim Caldwell that 2015 was his last season. Shocked!

sumoroyal
Not really, these guys make so much money now that they don't have to play 15 or more years to get their money.

born2reign
Negotiating ploy? It worked for Carson Palmer. Maybe he wants a change of scenery. I would venture to guess teams would be willing to offer up 3rd or even a 2nd round pick to Detroit for his services.
Clyde
Scheduled to make $16M. Will need to stroke a $3M check for unearned signing bonus.
ggclfan
My guess is that he is planning on retiring but could change his mind. Only he knows how badly his body is beat up. Right at the end of the season (when your body feels the worst) is probably not the best time to announce you are retiring. That may be why he only told Caldwell in case he changes his mind (if he feels 100% better by April and has the urge to play again). I thought most people thought the Lions would have to release him this year due to what he was going to make. Wouldn't it better for him to wait for that to happen to avoid paying the $3MM??? He told family and told Stafford and another teammate before the season that this probably would be his last season. So he was already considering it before this season. NKY Bandit
As someone who follows the Lions, hate to see him go but understand that some guys don't live to be football players. Some guys play the game because of their natural ability, not their undying love of it. Never got the sense that he loved the game.
ChefBombers
Not winning anything has to be demoralizing for a player of his caliber. This might just be a way to get the Lions to talk trades. I would love to see him with an elite QB in Brady, Rodgers, or Luck.
