January 13, 201610 yr Hue Jackson has interviewed with the 49ers and the Browns. The 49ers seem to be backing off. Reports were that maybe because he was more interested in the Browns, but then it was reported that Niners were going to interview Tom Coughlin. In the meantime, it appears the Browns are in hot pursuit. They had a second interview with Hue Jackson on Tuesday but still no offer. Browns owner, JimmyHaslem, skipped the owners' meeting in (somewhere south?) but his wife sat in on it. Speculation is that there has been no offer because they usually don't make one until they are sure it will be accepted. This means Hue indicated he is going to go to the interview with the Giants later this week. The Browns will no doubt be putting the pressure on Hue and/or his agent to get a deal made before he goes to NY. Word is he REALLY wants to be a Head Coach and is interested in the Browns and Giants. A friend of his said he thought Jackson would make a decision about where this week.
January 13, 201610 yr I believe someone from the Giants said they'll have their coach by the end of the week. I think that's where Hue ends up, and he's using the Browns as a backup plan.
January 13, 201610 yr Nobody wants to coach the Browns, especially someone that has already coached a bad NFL team. The Giants will hire Spagnulo. 49ers hire Coughline (why wouldn't they?), leaving the Browns. If I'm Hue, I'd rather be the OC in Cincy. That offense could be electric next year if everyone stays healthy. The Browns have Manziel. Two years there and looking for work again.
January 13, 201610 yr Author I think Hue ends up in NY. I hope he ends up in Cleveland. I don't think he will stay with Cinci. He wants to be a Head Coach. The Browns gig isn't attractive, I know, but hope springs eternal... (speaking of my hope that Hue lands in Cleveland and can turn things around)
January 13, 201610 yr If Hue really wanted the SF or Cleveland job, he would have taken one of them on Monday.
January 13, 201610 yr If Hue really wanted the SF or Cleveland job, he would have taken one of them on Monday. Not exactly true. He may want either one of those jobs so he can be a head coach, however he is in a position where he doesn't have to just try to take the first one available to him. The Giants job is most appealing, so might as well see if he can get that first. If he doesn't get the Giants job, you can almost be certain he will take either one of those jobs.

I meant if his first choice was SF or Cleveland, he would be their coach already.
January 13, 201610 yr So let's go to the next step....Who do the Bengals go after assuming Hue takes one of the HC jobs?
January 13, 201610 yr As a Browns fan, I hope anyone who takes the job does so with a 3 year deal. I, personally, wouldn't take the job otherwise. Two years isn't enough time for any coach.

Hasn't each of the last few coaches had more than 3 year deals? They just fire them before they even get to the end of their contract. So having a 3 year or 4 year deal doesn't mean the coach will be safe in Cleveland from being fired after a year or two.
January 13, 201610 yr So let's go to the next step....Who do the Bengals go after assuming Hue takes one of the HC jobs? If I had to guess they would promote from within because they wouldn't want to change the system that Dalton and now McCarron are use too. So I would think they may finally promote the QB coach who has been there for over 10 years now, either him or the WR coach.

I am not privy to the length of anyone's contract as it is none of my business.

I agree, I am just pointing out that I don't think any of the coaches had two years deals. You mention you wouldn't take it unless it is a 3 year deal, and that really doesn't matter. You can sign a 5 year deal, and that doesn't me your job is secure as these last few Browns coaches have found out.
