I said the same thing when I heard. 1K points halfway through his sophomore season? Okay Trevon. We see you.

Will Hager becomes Mercer County's all time leading scorer.

Is that "all time" since it originally opened, or "all time" since Harrodsburg merged in?

Would assume since then. I can't remember but I think that Harrodsburg had someone who was higher than that.

From what I have gathered they pick and choose what counts as All Time Mercer County and I am not sure if Harrodsburg is included.

In this situation Will Hager is the leading scorer of Mercer County Senior High School. The school that consolidated in 2006. This list does not include people like Joe White, Randy Bugg and many others. However, in a recent story about Mercer County it was mentioned that Mercer County hasn't been to the Sweet 16 since 2001. When it mentioned how many region titles Mercer County had they didn't include the two region titles that Harrodsburg had even though they counted the titles the Scotties had.

So I don't know. I guess we'll need a Mercer County person to clarify what does and doesn't count for All Time Mercer County. I'm honestly not sure.

Thanks. I've always considered the Mercer County Scotties and the Mercer County Titans the same school/team, with Harrodsburg a separate entity that closed.

Either way, one school or the other, congratulations to Hager who is a terrific player.

The problem with that is that the All Time Leader discussion gets muddy. All Time Leader of when? When it comes to individual accomplishments it is Titans only. When it comes to team accomplishments it becomes Titans and Scotties.

And of the Pioneers?

I have yet to hear of the Pioneers being included when All Time team accomplishments are discussed. It's always Scotties and/or Titans.

Probably would say the same for other schools that met the same fate as Harrodsburg I guess.

You're probably right. Makes for interesting conversations in these parts. :D

It gets even more confusing when a school gets too large and a second school is built, such as South and North Laurel. Laurel County Cardinals won a state basketball championship in 1982 and the South Laurel Cardinals won a title in the last decade, but in the KHSAA records they have them listed as separate school titles even though it's the same building, school grounds, nickname, school colors, Cardinal mascot, etc. That doesn't make sense to me. They lost a portion of their enrollment to form North Laurel but that doesn't change the fact that what remains there is still the same Cardinals. The two titles are from the same school.

Would assume since then. I can't remember but I think that Harrodsburg had someone who was higher than that.

Dennis Johnson scored over 2,000 points at Harrodsburg. Points record is just since merger from what I can tell.
